Grotegut ' Joseph Edward Thompson (Joe), age 79, passed away quietly on November 9,2007. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Collier and his brother, John Thompson. He was born to John Henry and Lora Harmon on November 27, 1927 in Malta, Idaho. He married Joan Olmstead in the Logan Temple on July 11, 1952. He graduated in 1945 as Salutatorian from the Raft River High School. From Brigham Young University he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1953 and a Master of Education Degree in 1960. On June 1, 1973 the degree of Doctor of Ed7' ucation was conferred upon him by the State University of New York at Buffalo. Joe served as a missionary in the New England States Mission from October 10, 1949 through Sept. 13, 1951. He often joked that he had been one of the "main missionaries" of the church since he had been a missionary in the State of Maine. Teachers. Missionaries Melissa Roach Melissa Roach has recently returned home after serving as a missionary and health care specialist in the Guatemala, Guatemala City South Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Melissa is the daughter of Glen and Kathy Roach. Her proud grandmas are Mary Roach and Helen Leighton of Spanish Fork. Melissa will be speaking in the Palmyra Ward on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. Scott Christian Scott Christian has been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Peru Lima North Mission. He will speak in Sacrament meeting on Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. in the Salem 9th Ward, located at 60 S. Main Street in Salem. All friends and family are invited to attend. Scott is the son of Darryl and Christy Christian and the grandson of Royden and Evelyn Christian, and Barbara and the late Comer Chapman.Scott will enter the MTC on Nov. 28. LARRY D. Air Force Airman Kaitlyn M. Grotegut has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. She is the daughter of Charlotte Grotegut of Spanish Fork. Grotegut is a 2007 graduate of Spanish Fork High School. Micah T. Nomiyama Air Force Airman Micah T. Nomiyama has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is the son of Melvin and Momi Nomiyama of Spanish Fork. Nomiyama graduated in 1998 from Provo High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2007 from Brigham Young University. Kyler T. Orton Air Force Airman Kyler T. Orton has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is the son of Todd Orton of Spanish Fork and Kimberly Shoell of Mapleton. Orton is a 2007 graduate of Spanish Fork High School. Milestone Earl J. Gull Special birthday wishes are being extended to Earl J. Gull, who will celebrate his 80th birthday on Nov. 23. He was born in Spanish Fork to John Bryant and Rosetta Hanks Gull. He was the 10th of 13 siblings. He, is the father of five children: Dennis (Ann), Melvin (Sherrie), Deanna (Bob) Mckell, Anita, and Brad (Traci). He has been blessed with 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
