Show Page THE HERALD, Provo, Utah, 4 31, 1983 Wednesday, August Parkway Produces Accidents lIlillM By PAT CHRISTIAN Herald Staff Writer A California man is in serious condition following a Tuesday evening traffic accident in a Provo intersection that has taken one life and been the location of 10 traffic accidents this year. On Tuesday night there were two almost simultaneous accidents in the intersection at 7:20 p.m. Provo Police Chief Swen Nielson said this morning he is initiating a study of the problem intersection. Officials at Utah Valley Hospital this morning said that William Plonsky was in critical condition in their intensive care unit. The Van Nuys, Calif., man was the driver of a car involved in one of two separate accidents that occurred almost at the same time in the intersection of University Parkway and 550 West, near the Cotton Tree commercial development. Nielson also said that the Mark Bvrnes Photos California man was driving southwest on 550 West when his car became involved in a collision with a car driven by Dave Provo Fire Department medical specialists and other emergency crews work feverously to help victims of two separate accidents thaj occurred Tuesday almost simultaneously in an accident prone Provo intersection. One is in serious condition at Utah Valley Hospital. S. Nelson, 83, of 370 W. 400 N., Provo. Nelson's car was heading toward Orem on University Parkway. Utah Valley Hospital officials listed Nelson in fair i!! condition. The second accident occurred in the intersection when Salli A. Kelley, 26, of 1660 who Woodside Drive, Provo was on Univeristy Parkway and headed toward Orem became involved in a collision on 550 West with a southwest bound car driven by Wayne F. Reece, 72, of Caldwell, Idaho. Both victims of this second accident were not hospitalized. Chief Nielson said that he is concerned about the number of accidents that have occurred in the intersection this year and today initiated a study. "This study will be quick, because we can't wait even a month before we sound the alarm," he said.
