Kiwanis gives spiritual Living Youth Awards to four Orem students Four exemplary young people received the Kiwanis Spiritual Living Youth Award Monday at a Kiwanis luncheon. The award recognizes unusually qualified young men and women who have exemplified five extremely important im-portant characteristics in their lives: character, youth activities, leadership, leader-ship, service, and commitment to spiritual principles. Honored were C. Reed Carr, son of Garth and Joan Rasband, of Orem, and Reed and Jan Carr of Houston, Texas; Linda K. Felt, daughter of Steve and Sally Felt; Amy Jacob, daughter of James and LaDawn Jacob; and Neil C. Hansen, a son of Wayne and Marsha Hansen. In addition to scholarly achievements and service in church activities, the students were cited by nominators for other qualifications as well. Reed Carr was recognized for his clean and neat appearance and for avoiding the "least appearance of evil." He always goes the extra mile Rosella Haws Rosella Lillian Harper Lees Haws, 80, of Concord, Calif., died Friday, March 13, 1987 in Walnut Creek, Calif, of causes incident to age. She is survived by three sons and three daughters including Ronald C. Lees of Orem. Graveside services were held Wednesday at the Timpanogos Memorial Gardens in Provo. Trella Cravens Trella Eileen Anderson Cravens, 74, of Orem, died Thursday, March 19, 1987 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of natural causes. She was born Jan. 4, 1913 in Waynoka, Okla., to John Ernest and Catherine Elizabeth Stewart Anderson. She married Robert Durant Cravens July Ju-ly 7, 1932 in Wichita, Kan. He died March 6, 1987. She was employed for 22 years at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center in Indianapolis, where she lived for 25 years before retiring to the Churubusco area in Indiana. Survivors include one son, one daughter: Robert Dee Cravens, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Catherine Trautman, Columbia City, Ind.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother: Clarence Anderson, Madison, Ind.; a nephew, Robert Stahl, Orem. Graveside services were held Monday Mon-day at the Forest Park East Cemetery, Leaque City, Texas. Devin Cullimore Devin McKenna Cullimore, 17-day-old son of Cody B. and Debra Sorenson Cullimore, died Friday, March 20, 1987 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center of pneumonia. He was born March 3, 1987 in Provo. His parents are members of The Church. of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, living in the Manila 2nd Ward. Survivors include his parents of Pleasant Grove; two brothers: Nathan James Cullimore and Lane Cameron Cullimore, both of Pleasant Grove; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. James C. Cullimore, Orem; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sorenson, Pleasant Grove; great-grandparents: great-grandparents: Vera Cullimore, Orem; Floyd Sorenson, Pleasant Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bezzant, Lindon; Mr. and Mrs. Fay L. He is an outstanding young man," said Ray R. Louder of the Orem High Seminary. "Linda Felt is one of the most valiant young women I have known. Her life is an example to others as she quietly goes about doing good and living liv-ing according to the high ideals she believes in," said William J. Young, Seminary instructor. He also recognized Linda for her service to others including a retarded retard-ed younger sister, Special Olympics, and elderly grandmother and a blind woman. Linda consistently reads the scriptures, is faithful in her church attendance, at-tendance, etc. and honors her parents by being dependable and responsible. Amy Jacob was nominated by Stake Youth Leaders of Orem Lakeview Stake. "Amy is not afraid to speak out about what she knows is right. She is very responsible, has high integrity, does not speak ill of Area obituaries Guy Rhoads Guy Harold Rhoads, 86, of Provo, died Sunday, March 22, 1987 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center of heart failure. He was born March 2, 1901 in Jet, Okla. to Richard N. and Ida Mae Ferris ' Rhoads. He married mar-ried Neoma L. Zehr. July 21, 1921 in Cherokee, Okla. She died Aug. 8, 1982. He was a member of the Rock Canyon Assembly of God Church. He was a former resident of Orem and had been the animal control officer there for seven years. Survivors include one son: Clifford H. Rhoads, Orem; six grandchldren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Murriel Hunt, Salem, Ore.' Mrs. Bessie Clark and Mrs. Maxine (Carl) Varnell, both Enid, Okla. Graveside services will be Wednesday Wednes-day at 10 a.m. in the Orem City Cemetery. Lloyd Peay Lloyd Alden Peay, 74, of Orem, died Tuesday, March 17, 1987 at his home of natural causes. He was born Oct. 6, 1912 in Benjamin, a son of Joseph Raymond Ray-mond and Emma Regene Cahoon Peay. He married Grace Peterson Christen April 29, 1976. He was educated in the I Spanish Fork school, then at tended BYU and Henager's Business College. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a petty officer. He worked as a butcher, meat cutter and manager for Safeway in the Los Angeles area for 33 years. He returned to Utah in 1976. Survivors include his wife of Orem? three sons and one daughter: Ray Christen, Dennis Christen, Roger Christen, and Mrs. Clifton (Beverly) Swanson, all of Provo; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers: Mrs. Eva Jean Moulton, Logan; Dean Peay, Santaquin; Grant F. Peay, Springville; Kenneth Peay, Benjamin. Ben-jamin. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services were held Saturday in Spanish Fork. Burial was in the Benjamin Ben-jamin Cemetery. Full military honors were accorded by the American Legion Post 68, Spanish Fork. Sarah Kingsbury j. Sarah Eithel Kingsbury, 71, died Monday, March 16, 1987 in Salt Lake City of cancer. She was the sister of Delsa Mem-mott Mem-mott of Orem. Services were held Thursday in Salt Lake City with burial in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Arnold Jarman Correction Arnold Heber Jarman, 77, of Orem died Sunday, March 15, 1987, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of causes incident to age. Hansen is "regarded in high esteem by his peers," said Todd Parker of the Orem High Seminary. "He never uses profanity and is neat and clean in appearance. He never is involved in any activity of questionable ques-tionable character and is very Christlike." Christ-like." Hansen was cited for volunteer work with the Forest Service building mountain trails. He also helped repair bicycles for Utah State Hospital and initiated a neighborhood finger printing prin-ting project. He participated in a pro- ject with the police department to engrave valuables and is involved in doing yard work for five widows in his neighborhood. Roger Honeyman Roger Bruce Honeyman, 66, of Provo, Pro-vo, died Saturday, March 21, 1987 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center of ! heart failure. . He was born Aug. 14, 1920 in Tippicanoe City, Ohio (now known as Tipp City, Ohio) to Charles Robert and Amy Mabel Turner Honeyman. He married Hilma Henrie Nov. 4, 1941 in Wicken- burg, Ariz. The I marriage was 1 later solemnized Aug. 25, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He received two degrees from BYU, a BA in English in 1947 and an MA in Educational Administration in 1951. He began his teaching career in Fillmore, then went to Paris, Idaho, returning to Utah, he taught at Orem Junior High School, Lehi High School He became affiliated af-filiated with Utah Technical College at Provo as an instructor in English, Communications Com-munications and Human Relations. He became chairman of the Evening School in 1967 for two yearrs then was made director of public relations and job placement place-ment coordinator, proselyting on the post-high school tour for a number of years, he retired in 1981 but continued teaching two English classes part time for the Evening School, he was doing this until two months prior to his death. He served in the U.S. Army 1939-1943, finishing as a Second Lt. During his years he affiliated with the Union Pacific Railroad, A. D. Steel Conoco Con-oco Services, Taylor Brothers Department Depart-ment Store, the Alaska Packers Assoc. and the U.S. Steel Corporation. He was a past presiaent of the Exchange Ex-change Club, a member of the Provo Chamber of Commerce and the Elks, Lodge No. 849, Provo. He was an Elder in the LDS Church. Survivors include his wife of Provo; one son, two daughters: Mrs. Darrel G. (Lynda) Avery, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Robert E. (Lee Ann) Nay, West Jordan; Kelly D. Honeyman, Payson; 14 grandchildren; grand-children; one great-grandchild; two sisters: Lisle A. Johnson, Goleta, Calif.; LaDonna Muhlhauser, Salem, Ore. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Honeyman. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 E. Center, Provo, where friends may call Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the VFW District No. 4. Contributions may be made to the Heart Fund. UVRMC andEldred Center offer joint health fair Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has joined forces with the Provo Senior Citizens, AARPNR-TA, AARPNR-TA, and the Women's Council Cultural Center, to sponsor a Provo Community Health Fair on Thursday and Friday , March 26th and 27th. The purpose of the Health Fair is to help promote health awareness through education and early disease detection through free screenings, blood tests, free literature, and lectures. lec-tures. On Thursday, March 26, a series of lectures on health related topics will be offered at the Eldred Center. At 1 p.m., a panel discussion will take place on the subject of "Living and Coping With Chronic Health Conditions." Then at 1:55 p.m., a discussion about Alzheimer's Disease," will take place under the direction of Bobbie Bob-bie Pillar, a clinical social worker. In connection with this lecture Dr. Virgil Parker will discuss problems associated with diabetes. Beginning at 2:45 p.m., Nancy Handy, R.N., from UVRMC, will discuss "Osteoporosis.". At 3:45 p.m. "Utah Sit and Stay Fit," will get underway with help from Dottie Williams and Nanci Robey. At 4:05 p.m., Terry Lange from UVRMC, will discuss "MedicareSupplemental Insurance. Then from 4:35 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., hors d'oeuvres will be served and entertainment en-tertainment will be provided by Janie Thompson.
