Show MRS. VIVA GRAY LAID TO REST IN MILFORD Funeral services were held Monday from the Milford Methodist Meth-odist Church for Mrs. Viva Viola Gray, who died in Fillmore of plastic enemia, January 19th Burial was in the Milford City Cemetery. Mrs. Gray was born December 1, 1884, in Ord, Nebraska a daughter of Orsen S. and Emma Goss Haskell. The family moved to Texas when she was eight years of age, and after attending elementary and high school in several Texas communities, she was graduated from the Univer-si'y Univer-si'y of Texas at Austin. She taught school in Brownsville j and other Texas cities, and in . 1912 married Ernest E. Gray In November, 1918, they moved to Cedar City, later to Parowan, and in 1922 moved to Thermo.' Mr. Gray was responsible for the sinking of many wells in the Thermo pumping district, and was killed in an accident while drilling a well there in 1932. Mrs. Gray moved to Milford and worked as a nurse, school teacher and seamstress to support sup-port herself and her small sonsi j and daughters. Under the W P A I she gave instruction in sewing to the adult public. For many j years she was manager of the school lunch room "at Milford and endeared herself to the pupils and teachers alike. For the past two years she lived in Fillmore at the home of her son, Jim, and daughter, Lois. Due to her rare enemia she required re-quired blood transfusions every two weeks, and these were contributed con-tributed by the members of the V F W at Fillmore. The former blood donors acted as pallbearers pallbear-ers at the funeral. The funeral program, under ; the direction of Rev. William K. Longacre, follows: Prelude, "Abide With Me," Bonnie Tomsik. Gray of American Fork, Mrs. Winnifred Young of Sparks, Nev.; James H. Gray of Fillmore, Fill-more, Mrs. Elta Mae Brown of Fort Dodge, La.; Mrs. Margaret Lilly of San Francisco, and Mrs. Lois Lee of Fillmore; a brother, Chester G. Haskell of Los Angeles, An-geles, and three sisters, Mrs. Ber-niece Ber-niece Washington of Brownsville, Browns-ville, Texas; Mrs. Irma Dunfield of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Joyce Haskell of Evanston, 111., and 11 grandchildren. |
