Without jdeslro to discount tho worth of Mr. Gnehm's hearty seconding speech, wo feel to add at this tlmo that MIssGroesbcck's known lltncss for this particular position probably had most to do with her nomination by acclamation. Miss Groesbeck Isagraduato of the A. O. of U. Commercial Department, served as secretary and treasurer of the Cacho Stako Sunday School Board threo years, and during tho past three years has been a very efllclont cmployo In tho First National Uank of this city. Sho Is a bright and capable business woman and this fact being known to those who guide things politically, Miss Groesbeck was given tho hearty endorsement of tho republican convention con-vention purely as a matter ot merit. For tho benefit of tho average voter some ot whom may not bo personally acquainted with this candidate, a brief "obituary" may nqt bo amiss. Miss Groesbeck is a native of Spring-"vim. Spring-"vim. Utah, a daughter ot N, H. Grots-bcckA Grots-bcckA granddaughter of Nicholas Oroeafceck, tho wealthiest man in Salt Lake in tho early seventies, and a rneco of Apostle John Henry Smith. Thus It will be seen that sho is from one of the pioneer families ot Utah. Her uncle, John Groesbeck, served as sheriff of Salt Lake county and John Groesbeck, a cousin, ts now treasurer of Salt Lake county. For several years Miss Groesbeck has been a resident ot Logan Fourth ward, Is highly respected by all who know her and greatly beloved by those who know her best. She is thoroughly capable, business-like, yet courteous and pleasant to an exceptional degree, and as Treasurer ot Logan city, would certainly discharge with marked fidelity the trust imposed upon her. Miss Groesbeck Is in overy sense worthy the vote and loyal support of every republican In this city and democrats dem-ocrats so Inclined could vote for her with the assurance that their ballot 'was never cast for a more acceptable candidate. |
