Johnson Pleasant The project consisted of a better collection system at the spring which is located about a mile north of Mayfield near the Yardley and Hanson farms A The City of Centerfield has just completed a $15800 water Work improvement project began February 23rd on the project and took two weeks to complete The project added a water supply and better quality to the residents The work was done under the direction of Wayne Nay City Councilman in charge of the water department He was assisted by Mayor Edgar Nielsen and the other City Councilmen The engineer was Don L Naser of Valley Engineering of Richfield and was built underground which the water falls against and then runs to the collection area located below the The water cement covering then proceeds through a 10” and 8" cast iron pipeline for a mile and then into a 6” pipe and runs through a series of valves cement wall Heart Attack Claims Austin Mecham The community was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Aust'n Mecham late Tuesday 53 Mr Mecham afternoon died at his home of a heart attack He was born December 6 1922 in Salina to William and He Esther Miller Mecham married Bemita Ivie April 28 1947 He was a farmer and a member of the LDS Church Survivors include his wife children Quay Neil Camille all of Axtell Mrs Newell (Mary Ann) Hatch Mrs Darrel (Joyce) Sampson Mrs Scott (Brenda) Buchanan all of Salt active part with two incidents this past week On Saturday in the early afternoon a motorist passing through came onto the Emergency Channel to inform us there was a gunshot victim and requested an ambulance to go about 15 miles north of Gunnison The Highway Patrol was also notified At this same time there was a motorist northbound and he notified the Nephi authorities who reached the scene first Gunnison REACT would like to thank the Gunnison Hospital for doing its part even though the patient was taken north At about 12:57 AM Tuesday March 30th there was another call for assistance from a coal trucker who was coming south from Levan when a small car in front of him was trampled by horses damaging the car and seriously injuring the passenger The trucker pulled the man from the wreck and headed for Gunnison Gunnison REACT notified the hospital giving them a few minutes’ warning In contacting the Gunnison Hospital later in the morning we were informed the victim had been transported to a hospital up north and no report was given on his condition But we can be sure he is in good hands Our thanks go out to the trucker Dan Poulson for his willingness to help the victim
