"We're putting in more access trails to MidMountain," Potter said, adding that Park City's flagship Mid-Mountain Trail winds along the Wasatch Back from Deer Valley Resort to The Canyons at nearly 8,000 vertical feet. "That's our spine, that's our star ... you go from panoramic to enchanted forest. It's glorious." Holly's Trail provides access to the MidMountain Trail from Snyderville, she said. Following the service project, the Mountain Trails Foundation will hold Trail Fest 2005 Saturday evening at Miners Hospital at 5 p.m. "To show what is coming up this summer, because that's the most asked question. What new trails are coming this summer?" Potter said. Park City and Summit County government officials will be on hand with maps to explain plans for future trails, she adds. "It's a great lime for trail friends to get together," Potter said, adding that during a silent auction residents can bid Saturday for the chance to name a trail in Summit County. "Which will be great fun ... it must be an approved name." The National Trails Day celebration comes just in time for several major cycling events in Summit County during June. A 17-year Army veteran, Wrigglesworth, who owns a condominium at Powderwood, said in an interview after the ceremony that both soldiers who have been killed and those currently in battle zones should be remembered on Memorial Day. "It's not only to honor soldiers who have passed but those who are serving presently as well. They give a sacrifice," Wrigglesworth said. About 150 people gathered at the cemetery at noon for a program featuring words from veterans, songs and remarks from Mayor Dana Williams. With formation last year of the Summit Mosquito Abatement District, spraying for the pests commenced countywide. Summit County escaped outbreaks of the virus in 2003 and 2004, which last year resulted in 11 reported human cases of West Nile in Utah. But publicity about the disease prompted more spraying locally and the Summit County Commission raised property taxes a few dollars to fund the expansion of the North Summit Mosquito Abatement District into the Kamas Valley and onto the West Side. "We've found them in the water already but they're not in huge numbers yet," said John Jaussi, manager of the Summit Mosquito Abatement District. "It gets more serious as the warm weather comes."
