Mi lieth said he plans lo he at the meet inn today to see what happens lint he won't make any comments ahout the i ount v's plan "Our position is to lie uplx-at, to be professional and let the county make their proposal," he said. MAO would continue to operate op-erate the programs in Wasatch and Summit counties even if Utah County takes fiver the programs in Utah Giunty. MAO runs several programs under its aging services division, di-vision, including Meals on Wheels, an ombudsman pro-gram, pro-gram, health education, legal services and some in-home nursing services. Utah Giunty commissioners commission-ers have proposed increasing Meals fin Wheels from five days to seven days per week, expanding outreach to low-income low-income seniors; using the Utah Slate University Extension service to develop better nutritional nutri-tional and education programs for the elderly; providing better bet-ter legal services through the county Attorney's Office; and providing more health-related services to the elderly through the Utah Giunty Health Department. De-partment. The final cost for those increases in-creases will deiend on transition transi-tion and start-up costs money mon-ey the programs won't need in subsequent years, Orover said. For example, MAO could keep the Meals on Wheels vans and require the county to buy vans the first year, he said. "I think there will be a cost savings once we have the staffing staff-ing plan done," he said. "The pay scale is out of whack at MAO." McBeth makes $80,000 per year, compared to the $81,588 county commissioners earn annually. M AO's Meals on Wheels drivers make between $7.8.'5 and $1,185 per hour. MAO's executive director, Dar-rell Dar-rell Gxik, ears $1 18,000 per year. In comparison, the county's highest paid elected official, Giunty Attorney Kay Bryson, makes $100,000 annually. 1?
