NINAS MUD HUT, located at 2 North Main in Payson, is a joint phone effort on the part of Nina and Larry Carter. Nina oversees the ceramics and Larry is in charge of the beautiful antiques, and they are happy to be assisted by their daughter, Lonnie Smith. Nina tells us that this is her tenth year in the ceramic business. They offer daily workshops Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday 465-390- 2, and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Chalk classes will be taught on the method of decorative pastel chalking on ceramic pieces. Chris Mellon got the Lions rolling with a superior decision in the first match and Johnny Loveless pinned his man with 25 seconds left in the first round. Hopes of a win slowly evaporated after the first two matches, however, as the Dons won all eleven of the remaining matches. Experience seemed to be the key, the Dons boasting two returning state champs and one second place state finisher. Spanish Forks roster includes seven seniors while Payson Tennis to begin Feb.15 Nebo School District Community School and City Recreation are now offering begin- ning group tennis lessons to all boys and girls ages 8 to 15. Lessons will begin the week of February 15, 1988. Lessons are one hour and will cost $2.50 per hour ($15.00 for once weekly and $30.00 for twice weekly). Lessons will run for 6 weeks and will be taught weekdays at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 p.m., and Saturday mornings at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 a.m. Lessons will be taught either once a week or twice a week. Classes are filling up rapidly, so register immediately. Payson seniors Jon Farr and Paul Ashton wrestled a pair of exciting matches. Farr fell behind early, in his match but nearly pullqtf out the win with some good wrestling in the final period. Ashton led at the end of the first period, was down at the end of the second, bpt went after a penalty point ahead and a reversal. He couldnt hang on, though, as Peterson got a reversal to win five 2-- 1 4-- 5-- discussion group featuring Steve Willingham. Mr. Willingham, who is a resource teacher in Springville, will focus on how parents can give their children help with their homework. He also will present information on helping children determine directions in career and future educational choices. He feels that children can be helped to tailor their future occupations to their strengths and abilities. Parents need to focus on these strengths and abilities in working with their children rather than some of the weaknesses in traditional 2 4 6--5. The Lions end the regular dual meet season with a record, all three losses to region leaders Uintah, Pleasant Grove and Spanish Fork. Mellon and Loveless breezed through their region matches after early losses to Uintah and P.G. Mellon recorded a win over his Uintah opponent later in the year at a tournament in Vernal. Farr also lost to P.G. and Uintah then recorded four straight region wins after dropping a weight class to 160 lbs. Farrs trouble will come from P.G.s Damn Henry and S.F.'s Hudson Hill. While he hasnt wrestled Henry this edge in their three matches for the Ashton season. Paul was undefeated in region matches debefore dropping the Petersen from Spanish cision Fork. Jwt Bradley, Jake Mellon, Reed Staheli and Ryan Frandson each have four region wins to their credit and will be contenders in their strong respective weight classes. The Lions will miss Kurt Gurney, year, Hill holds a 2-- 1 6-- 5 Chad Knapp, and Shane Ford who were all sidelined for the season and will be looking to Bret Conrad, Paul Foster, and Jason Haveron to pick up the slack.
