Show Park Record Thursday June 2 1989 PageAIS uffth h pi TTrnTTrniiiirniTTaTn COVER YOUR ASSETS!!! False quote Editor: . v In response to the June 15, 1989, Park Record article entitled "State Files Against Osguthorpe," there are some errors that need correction regarding P-III Associates' Inc., role in the S.R. 224 road construction project. First, I do not know what Mr. D. A. Osguthorpe's comments were to various state workers since I have not, at any time, ever spoken to Mr. D.A. Osguthorpe personally. Therefore, the quote attributed; to me in the paper is false. Second, there is no basis for any implications that P-III Associates, Inc., is responsible respon-sible for the delay in the construction construc-tion of S.R. 224. In late March, 1989, we submitted our final report of ar-cheological ar-cheological , investigations conducted con-ducted at Snyderville to the Utah Department of Transportation and the Utah Division of State History. P-III Associates has not been involved involv-ed with any aspect of the S.R. 224 project since April 27, 1989, of this year. Any lawsuits or litigation concerning con-cerning the archeology on this project pro-ject or access to Mr. D.A. Osguthorpe's land do not involve P-III P-III Associates, Inc. Finally, we would like to thank the local residents for their cooperation and assistance during our investigation and apologize to any person for any inconveniences we may have caused them during the course of our ar-cheological ar-cheological investigations. Any person or organizations interested in-terested in obtaining a copy of our report, Historical Archeology at Parley's Parfe, Utah: The Testing Program, may contact the State's Aroheologist's Office, 300 Rio Grande, Suite 210, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101. Sincerely, AlanR.Schroedl,Ph.D. president and senior consultant A bad sign Will miss Mclntyre Editor note; The following is an open letter addressed to Dr. Ron Mcln-tire. Mcln-tire. Editor: Editor: For a town that is so concerned about image, and about the style and appearance of the buildings and decor, I can't believe that the billboard on Park Avenue is still proclaiming pro-claiming that Hogans Heros is real. If there has to be a billboard at all, why not advertise local community events? Like the Fourth of July festivities or the street dances, maybe the concert schedules at Deer Valley or Park West or sporting events like mountain bike races or the Ride 4 Tie. But that ridiculous sign has got to go for the benefit of the locals and visitors alike. Jessica Stabrylla Editor's note: It seems your wish has been granted, that ridiculous sign is no longer. It was replaced within the last two weeks with a local advertisement. Shaped-up Resort Center Editor: Had to send this note! I was taking a walk around the Park City Resort Center the other evening and couldn't believe my eyes. The place looks great! It is so encouraging to see such an upgrading of one of Park City's main attractions. They are destined to be a major summer player again. The sod to the west of Peek-A-Boo's was much needed. In conjunction with the Alpine Slide, and miniature golf course the place was packed. With the ice rink being topped with concrete and ready for summer skating that level is also improving. I think these projects at the Resort Center truly deserve the "Thumbs Up!" Keep it up. Tom Peek Swimming with Scouts Editor: We would like to thank the Prospector Pro-spector Athletic Club and Jamie Weber, the lifeguard, for the use of their pool the past three weeks. Twenty-three Boy Scouts earned the swimming skill award and the swimming swim-ming merit badge over the six nights of pool time, also included was the mandatory post-warmup in the hot tub. The parents and scouts committee commit-tee of Troop 72 appreciate the community com-munity involvement of Doug Jones and his staff at Prospector. Thank you again. Greg Nuckolls Scoutmasters, Troop 72 Rotary Club Sponsor I would like to thank you for the highly professional and unbiased ef forts: that: you. ha$mtfiiif ested jIbm --'" behalf of our Park City- School ' Editor: Districts. I have greatly appreciated your efforts to work with a difficult school board from 1987 to 1988, and then our subsequent inexperienced school board. Your patience with all of them has been heroic. Your extensive exten-sive knowledge and foresight have been a great contributing source for productivity at the otherwise frustrated school board meetings I have attended. I have witnessed, at these school board meetings, how you were hampered and thwarted in performing your duties but your efforts ef-forts have not gone unnoticed nor been unappreciated. Your resignation resigna-tion will result in a serious loss to our school district. I realize you inherited a school district in grave condition. This condition con-dition was due to the long void in the use of concrete thinking, unselfish motivation, fiscal responsibility, responsiveness to constituents and producting planning. Now that you are leaving I hope your endeavors will continue to be an elevating example ex-ample in the future of this school district. I greatly respect your constancy of purpose and your diligence in trying try-ing to do what was future-sighted and correct for our school district as a whole, and for the benefit of the education of our children. Best wishes for your future plans. Sincerely, Lucy Murphy Down with debt When explorers discovered oil in Summit County and flowered the county coffers with more and more money, we heard very little about it. We just spent and spent and never looked back. Saved nothing and certainly cer-tainly never thanked anybody. Now that oil income and tax benefits are down, the first reaction is to raise property taxes to meet the deficit. The spend-and-tax crowd now in power needs a fresh look at right and reason. How about reducing the outflow, commensurate with income? in-come? We do not absolutely have to run the country like the federal government. Sincerely, Graham S.
