Show Police Blotter "R" letter-ripping rogues strike again A recurrent ruse, the "R" in Herman's Her-man's World of Sporting Goods was ripped from the rafters for the second se-cond time, Jan. 7. The theft of the "R" by an unknown rogue, who removed the letter from the store front, took place at the Holiday Village Shopping Center on Park Avenue. Doing a "Charlie, The Tuna" imitation, im-itation, several juveniles lay in the Town Lift net on Park Avenue Jan. 4. Police allegedly told the mimicking mimick-ing mammals to move along, lest their gills get caught. When several icicles thawed and fell from a Main Street business Jan. . 4, they landed on a parked car below causing $1,000 in damage. Two residential burglaries occurred occur-red during the Jan. 2 - 8 week. A pair of chairs were taken from a Deer Valley unit Jan. 2. They were valued at $200 each. On Jan. 4, a mountain bike was reported stolen from a Lucky John Drive residence's garage. The theft apparently happened hap-pened some time during the past month and the bike's value was estimated at $700. Also during the week, six vehicle accidents occurred and no injuries were reported. A van parked on Park Avenue was vandalized Jan. 2, when all four windows win-dows were broken by an unknown assailant. On Jan. 2 a $900 ski suit was stolen from a car parked on Main Street. A business burglary of a local construction con-struction site took place Jan. 5. An airless paint sprayer, a propane heater and tank were reported stolen and the estimated loss to the construction firm is $1,400. The victim of a dog bite reported the incident to police Jan. 5. He said he'd been bitten by the dog on Park Avenue. Several youngsters, apparently confused by the phrase "sock hop," were discovered jumping from car to car with their shoes on Jan. 5. Police dispersed the Swede Alley shoe hop at China Bridge. On Jan. 4, a person was reported shot with a paint ball. No other information infor-mation was available from the Park City Police department at the time of publication, not even the paint color. Building valuations increase in 1990 - The number of building inspections conducted in Park City in December dropped to 365 from November's 425. But they remained fairly steady with the 356 inspections conducted during December, 1989. The Building Department issued 34 permits in December, down from November during which 67 were issued, and also from December of 1989 when 61 were issued. Building valuation for the end of the 1990 calendar year totalled $51,041,320.88, up substantially from the calendar year 1989 of $41,967,017.74. Edmund Ernest Espinoza, 26, of Bonita, Calif., was found guilty of disorderly conduct and ordered to pay fines and fees of $50. Randolf Leandro Chalfa, 26, of Bonita, Calif., faced a charge of disorderly conduct. Judge Grant ordered him to pay fines and fees totaling $50. Arnoldo Alvarado, 24, of 2200 Monitor Dr. No. 11-C, Park City, was found guilty of having no driver's insurance. in-surance. He was ordered to pay fines and fees of $300. Fifty dollars was suspended with the agreement that Alvarado make restitution to the victim vic-tim in the vehicle accident which precipitated the charge. Wilford Lucero, 22, of Kearns, Utah, faced charges of possessing no driver's insurance, and two warrants war-rants of arrest fee charges. The first charge was dismissed under the condition con-dition that Lucero make restitution and warrant fees totaling $1128. Joel Wayne West, 33, of 2144 West Apache Dr. Park City, was found guilty of exceeding the speed limit by 15 mph and driving while his license was on revocation. A 90 day jail sentence was suspended and he was ordered to pay fines and fees of $145 with the agreement that he receive no citations within the next six months. James Rogers Kirk, 28, of Seattle, Wash., faced charges of public intoxication intox-ication and interfering in the arrest by a police officer. Bail was forfeited in both charges, and he was ordered to pay a citation amount of $350.
