The first show of the season is scheduled for July 22 when the festival welcomes pianist Robert Moeling, cellist Maureen McDer-mott, McDer-mott, clarinetist Russell Harlow, bassoonist Mitchell Morrision, horn player William Barnewitz, and oboist Robert Stevenson. The players will offer works including in-cluding Barber's Sonata for Cello and Piano; Beethoven's Quintet in E-flat Major for Piano and Winds, Opus IS; Martinu's Quartet for Clarinet, Horn, Cello, and Snare Drum; and Zemlinsky's Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano. The festival has also made a late addition to the season with a show July 26 which will feature Manuel Ramos on violin; Leslie Blackburn on viola; Maureen McDermott on cello; and Robert Moening on piano. The four will perform Martinu's Madrigals for Violin and Piano; Dvorak's G Major Ma-jor Sonatina for Violin and Piano, Opus 100; Prokofiev's Sonata in D Major for Violin, Opus 94; and Brahms's C Major Trio, Opus 87. Anyone who hasn't seen the Deer Valley Chamber Music Festival, or listened to their recordings Sunday mornings on KUER, FM 90, should give the festival a try. In its sixth year, the festival has been attracting more performers each year, as well as a core of superlative musicians who return annually. Folks who've been attending regularly will certainly remember McDermott's impassioned impas-sioned cello and Ramos's technically and emotionally impeccable im-peccable violin.
