There will be a $15.00 non-refundable fee for a copy of the plans and Kevin Steadman, Payson businessman, announced his candidacy can-didacy for the Utah County Com-mission Com-mission today, with the , Republican party for the seat to be vacated by Sid Sandberg. "While we are enjoying economic growth and living a preferred lifestyle in Utah County Coun-ty in the 1990s, the decisions we make regarding our water, air, land use, and economic development develop-ment are just a few of the issues that will predicate the lifestyle of your children and mine in the next century," says Steadman. "I want to roll up my sleeves and go to work on these issues, and others that we face as a county. "In the business and industrial in-dustrial sector, outside corporations corpora-tions are finding Utah County conducive for high quality of work and profitability. Not only are we excited about the growth and expansion ex-pansion of our existing businesses, busi-nesses, but we are seeing more new small businesses grow and expand which substantially strengthen our labor force ana economic structure, and in turn improves the lifestyle of our resi- dents. Government must provide an atmosphere so business can succeed, and not fail because of over government regulation. "As we see new business and families move into our county, we continually burden our existing resources and systems; air, water, traffic, housing, and law enforcement. As our county grows so must our planning improve to ensure the quality of life we now enjoy. "Not only do we burden these systems but in turn government tries to burden us with more taxes. As a fiscal conservative m be sensitive to those on fixed incomes in-comes and those of us who just can not afford to pay more taxes. Steadman also would address the air pollution problem and praises the Clean Air Commission Commis-sion as "citizens working with government to jointly deal with a problem that affects our future." t ' Bob Wright files for county commission KEVIN STEADMAN ' He also recognizes the water issue and "will ferociously defend Utah County's rights to all economic and physical resources the Central Utah Water Project provides." . Steadman supports the proposed legislation to ban heavy truck traffic in Provo Canyon and feels "comfortable with the joint ; efforts of Utah and Wasatch counties coun-ties and the Utah Department of Transportation to create a thoroughfare in Provo Canyon which will allow safe passage of individuals and families, yet be mindful of the ecosystems and natural beauties that exist in the Canyon." The candidate holds a bachelors degree in Public Relations Rela-tions and a masters degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University, and has been involved with his own marketing group for the past six years. In 1988 he served on the Santaquin City Council and later as mayor. His office is in Payson, where he is the past president of the Payson Kiwanis Club. Steadman Stead-man is married to the former Mary Ann Shields has six children and currently lives in Salem. Bob Wright, Orem, has announced an-nounced his candidacy for County Commission. At the time he filed, he was the only candidate from the north end of the County in addition to incumbent Malcolm Beck. Wright says people deserve the opportunity for change, "due to the irresponsible actions of the three county commission members mem-bers supposedly overseeing the operation of the Timpview Mental Men-tal Health fiasco." "I am a retired accountant, bookkeeper and personnel manager. Evidently this experience ex-perience is badly needed on our County Commission. Being retired, I can spend full time on the job. I consider myself a peoples' candidate, as I have no affiliation with any special interest inter-est group or organization." Wright says he is concerned about people who are not being heard or served. "Our present commissioners are claiming that a tax increase is inevitable. I will fight every effort to increase taxes, and insist that each department of county government, govern-ment, live within their allocated budgets without a tax increase. BOB WRIGHT "I am not a hard line environmentalist, environ-mentalist, but we need to fight for our water rights, clean air and a safe highway in Provo Canyon. I am in favor of the proposed five acre farm land zoning and development of the Utah Lake. Our economic future depends on all of those improvements." of the City" of Oremspedficatiofta.
