Show Page 2 DIXIE SUN November 18, 1988 Voices Executive Council Column STUDENT OPINION Sa Fall Quarter Coming to a Close "Do you think that the library has sufficient facilities for the needs of the students?" Fall quarter hag been a great success thus far. Campus life Tra SUN has been running smoothly, and nobody seems to be too far behind in their homework, right? The Executive Council would like to urge all students, to begin preparing for finals week, which is just around the comer. Many students feel that they can push all their homework and term papers until the end of the quarter, but when they do this, major regrets set in. Because we have a whole week off for Thanksgiving, we would suggest that you use that time out of class to catch up or even get ahead on your homework. An hour or two each day should put you where you need to be. Let's face it, finals week can be a killer if you are not ready for it. The Exec. Council hopes that you are enjoying the social life at Dixie. There have been numerous fun activities this quarter for the students. Just this past week Sadies was held at the Dixie Center. This western was absolute fun for those who showed up. The AWS committee sure did a great job. Also, the famous Cabana Club was held again in the Sunroom. You can't beat the night club atmosphere for setting a great mood for a hypnotist who had the whole audience roaring with laughter. The Activities committee sponsored a great show for us. We hope that everyone will all join us for the next Cabana Club, to be held during Winter quarter. The Exec. Council wants to see each student succeed in school. We want you to do well in your classes, to increase your knowledge, and to learn how to think for yourself. We also want you to become in your life; hence the activities. Let us remind you that we are your representatives to the faculty and administration. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us and we will do all that we can to help you. Also, if you have any suggestions for us, as far as student government, activities, or other student concerns, we would love to hear from you. We hope that you have a great Thanksgiving and that you come back ready to ace all of your finals. don't because the research facilities are inadeRushman quate. "No I hoe-dow- n I don't mean get lost in the quest of searching for yourself (as an entire generation did in an era previous to ours). I mean you need to take the time to determine who you are. I am not asking you determine who does Joe want you to be. I'm not asking you to decide who your teachers, parents, and other elders want you to be, because, frankly, that can get very confusing. Who are you? So, now that I've got your attention, I suppose you want an answer to the question I've proposed. I'm sorry, but I can't give that to you. I do know someone who can answer that question though, and he or she is reading this article at this very second. That's right, the answer is going to come from inside yourself. Before we begin the quest for an answer I think I should explain my interest in who you are. lb put it bluntly, I'm tired of seeing my peers without goals, without a firm grasp on their beliefs, and without a strong enough conviction of those beliefs to adhere to them when problems arise, it is very disturbing to me that some of them, maybe only 10, have no idea what the person lying on their death bed will be like. Let's go back now and try to answer the question posed earlier, "Who am I" My number one suggestion in trying to find that answer is to create enough responsibility for yourself to honestly want an answer. If that sense of responsibility is not there you might as well go on to the next article because the rest of this one will be of no use to you. Secondly, on the road to a solution, is a word you want to remove from the dictionary because the thought of it also brings on the thought of work. The word is GOALS. Set goals. it is.
