Show MAY ISSUE BONDS TO BUILD HIGHWAY Meeting at Provo Considers Proposition to Construct Eoad North and South Through Utah County. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Jan. 5. The committee on the construction of a permanent highway high-way from the northern to the southern boundary line of Utah county met last night at the Provo Commercial club, in response to a call issued by Secretary William L. Wilson of the Commercial club industrial committee. The following follow-ing representatives of the several towns and districts of the county were in attendance: at-tendance: James M. Kirkham, Francis Child, J. TW. Wing, Lehi; S. W. Chipman. Thomas Coddington, American Fork; D. Niblo Smith, Pleasant Grove; John O. Stone, Milton Holdaway, Elmer Holdaway, Vineyard; Marion Clinger, Lake View; T. F. Wentz, Provo Bench; Mavor James E. Daniels, W. O. Creer, William M. Wilson, Wil-son, George C- Swan, A. W. Jensen, John P. Stewart, G. Merle Tavlor, E. A. Peav, A. Straw, Frank W. Deming, II. E. Beebe, A. F. Acord, H. C. Hicks, Provo; Ben E. Argyle, O. Green, Spanish Fork; Andrew Peterson, Salem. The road as now projected will extend for fifty miles through the length of the county along the State road route, and the two loops, which have been considered, will be from Pleasant Grove to Provo, through Vineyard and Lake View, eleven miles, and from Spanish Fork to Payson, through Benjamin aud Lake Viewnine miles, the main road to be sixteen feet .wide and the loops ten feet wide. The loops are through thick-Iv thick-Iv settled farming communities, where there is a heavy haulage of sugar beets and other farm products over none too good roads at present. A safe estimate by road engineers and builders places tne amount of bond issue required for the construction at $800,000. |
