Show progress sentiment marks club banquet one of the very best affairs of the kind ever held in this city was the st george commercial club a banquet last saturday night after the guests assembled they danced in the gymnasium until time tor for the banquet the banquet was served in the basement corridor of the college building a nice cool place the best that could have been chosen the decorations were very pretty and gave a gay and animated appearance to the scene the tables were excellently laid and decorations consisting of cut cowers of various kinds gave it a beautiful and very inviting appearance each guest had a boquet ot of sweet pea blossoms laid beside his plate we will not attempt to describe the many good things provided to eat they were varied enough to suit any ones taste and the cooking would be hard to beat it was a bounteous and appetizing feast fit tor for the gods and a great credit to the excellent ladies who prepared it the service too left nothing to be desired about a dozen young ladles ladies flitted flirted about and saw to it that each and every one was readily and well attended to one hundred and thirty five sat down to the tables mr air william brooks announced that mr air edw H snow would be toastmaster for the evening and no better selection could have been made mr air snow made a brie brief and witty talk in acceptance and was heartily applauded mr snow called upon mr air C B petty one of the hurricane commercial club delegation to tell what hurricane was doing mr petty in responding sp said a commercial club was recently organized in hurricane and in 30 daya days had 60 members all enthusiastic thusia boosters boasters bo for good roads and other progressive movements hurricane aimed to ba be on a route from yellowstone national park to zion canyon and the grand canyon through et st george to bingman and phoenix arizona and loa los angeles calif thought bt st george jeorge should be connected with hurricane by a direct route touch imich shorter than that present route and that the two largest towns in he bouny should work and pull together for the good of the county and until the five important highways should center in the county mr petty was heartily applauded as were era the others who responded to toasts mr W 0 bentley was sure we might include county in our field of actions it was a pleasure and privilege to work for it waa was pleased to welcome elcome the many present the future greatness ot of tha the county was depicted depleted by mr outlay who thought the commercial clubs would play an important part in its development this club was eager and willing to heiy hurricane their development was ours was heartily in favor of move to connect the two towns by a shorter and more direct route there a man or woman who lives in our midst who will not become a booster for such a laudable cause Is there a business man in this city who would say that he was not a part of the real red blood that city is doing toward a camping ground tor for tourists the city has taken steps to have such a ground set apart and the council will do all in its power dower to get got the movement forward mr air jos T atkin jr said he was as glad to be a member of the club and assist in its labors this completed the program and ended a very enjoyable time the ladles ladies who prepared the dinner dianer were
