While the company ia employ ed to make the calcs from time to time, under the terms of the contract, no sale will lie made until sanctioned by the committee. In connection with sales from the pool, W. D. Candland of Mt. Pleasant, a member of the marketing committee, will be consulted in the ease of fine wool, and George Austin of Salt Lake City, also a momlier of the committee, will pass on sales of coarse wool.. Immediately upon signing tbe power of attorney consigning his wool to the marketing committee a grower may notify the committee that he is ready to load his clip on board ears at a certain point, according to the plan an nouneed by the fiscal agent of the pooling organization. The committee has also announced that wpolgrowers in other states adjacent to Utah may join the tool. In planning to aid the woolgrower under the marketing scheme, the committee is optomistic over reports received concerning recent sales from the Michigan wont pool. Afew days ago thirty carloads, approximately a trainload was wld from the farm bureau pim! in that state to an Eastern clothing mill. In connection wilh the sale the Michigan farm bureau reports: Direct! sale to the mill of proper-l- v graded wool in such quantities without any commissions accruing to one or several in between dealers, netted farm bureau members several cents additional on the ground. Growers are asked to compare the system withwhat the Utah buyers have to offer.'- Y Y Y Y Y The reason that Salt Lake City is not a packing center is plsinly seen by comparing the difference between this tained. j Vernal Wool Grading. Quite a large crowd of farmers and sheepmen gathered at the courthouse grounds at Vernal a few days ago to witness a demonstration of wool grad- ing. Says the Vernal Express : Coun-- 1 ty Agent Wittwer bad secured several sacks of fleeces and from these the grading was made. The demonstration was very interesting and instructive. Josqih J. Walker, a representative of Wolstenholme Sons A Co., of hiladelpliia, Pa., was the grader. Walker showed very clearly just why one grower receives more than his neighbor for wool, which is just the difference in the grade of sheep. lie also told how it would be possible to get better priees for wool by grading right here at home before shipment. Price, Utah Estimates made in many localities indicate that the average loss of range animals as a result of feeding on plants is as great as 3 to 5 per cent, while in some range states the percentage is much higher. In Colorado the losses amount to $1,000,000 annually, while sheeproisers in Wyoming have placed their annual loss as high as 14.0 jwr cent of their flocks.
