MAY 21, 1923 ESTABLISHED 1910 in & 4 4 $ NEW INDUSTRY ASSURED FOR PROVO Joins Central Ely Pump Big Manufactory to Be Established Here Utah on Highways Following on a report of a special committee of the Provo Chamber of Commerce into the claims and standing of the National Pump company of Denver,- delivered to the board of directors this morning by Thomas F. Pierpont and J. Will Knight, two of Provos leading business men, it is announced that H. O. Jack- Jackson, 'head of the Denver concern and inventor of the ' will remove his manufacturing plant to immediately sn'pump, Provo. It means the 'erection of a $200,000 plant here, which, when in operation, will employ approximately 200 men. The move is being made to get nearer the source of iron and steel and is predicated upon the future operations of the Columbia Steel Corporation, now building its pig iron plant on the outskirts of this city at Ironton. The National Pump company, however, will be under way and producing its output before the Columbia Steel is making iron by April first of next year. The full board of directors of the chamber heard the special committees report today and immediately wired Mr. Jackson to come and that they would officially back him in his enterprise. Since he had already expressed his willingness to come in case the committee found his representations to be true, it is practically certain that he will begin' the work of transferring his plant and equipment to this city. He proposes to place some ofthe stock in his enterprise in Utah county and for that reason, asked the Provo business interests to investigate his standing. Since this has been fund eminently satisfactory there seems no further hitch in the coming of this big industry.
