COUNTY CONVEN convention ZION the county convention held at karnes kamas monday afternoon was called to order by county chairman J leslie boyden who was M made permanent chairman with J 0 green secretary in addition to the park city delegates named above the following representatives senta tives from the county were present coalville Co alville john E wright J L boyden P P J rees C B wilde it was as decided by the convention that the bo south uth end of the county be given the four year commissioner I 1 for this office roy lambert of kamas nominated by J 0 pack and L A lem on of marion nominated by A F mari I 1 chant mr lambert received the majority I 1 of votes for the two year county commissioner commissioner a spirited contest was staged three cant cani I 1 dilates being nominated parley powell a school teacher of upton placed in nomination by heber wilde J P stevens 0 of f hemeter He neter nominated by george toone land and geo L hobson of henefer He neter nominated a ted by C A west mr stevens received the majority of votes cast on the first ballot by a narrow but sate safe margin for county attorney bartly mcdonough of this city was the only nominee he being placed in nomination by J E wright of Co coalville alville and enthusiastically seconded by mayor john welsh mr mcdonough was nominated by exclamation acclamation for member of the state legislature mr maurice E boyden a popular young of Co alville was placed in nomination by bartly mcdonough and his nomination was unanimous the south summit high school band entertain d the delegates and visitors with a forty five minute band concert in front of the convention ball which was cleverly rendered and much appreciated by the large gathering the band also gave selections during the convention also during the conven convention short addresses were given by nominees mcdonough and stevens stevena mrs maurice boyden roy lambert geo L hobson and H C crittenden optimism tor for the success of the th park city the first of the week in the interests of his mr stain la Is well known in summit county particularly in park city he making visits here since 1880 he has already visited several counties in the state and Is quite optimistic as regarding his election and the success of the entire democratic ticket the gentle beatle man Is well known in fraternal Ira and bual basli ness circles over the entire state Is a man 0 of high ideals and dependability worthy of the support of all democrats which he be Is certain to receive and which will be augmented by many hundreds of 0 republicans who know time they organized the junior democratic league of park city bartly 0 mcdonough who had been acting as temporary chairman of the ice local I 1 unit was elected president of the organization organization mrs ellen brooks was elected vice president I 1 frank secre secretary tary wid and edward treasurer the newly organized local unit with i the operation cooperation co ot of the state league will endeavor to instill and preserve in the young people of park city an interests interest in governmental affairs to aid iu in restoring public confidence in our government ai and to further the ideals and principles of democracy judge roger mcdonough of salt lake was principle speaker at the second meeting of the local junior democratic league last wednesday night at the city hall he spoke to the large group which was present at the meeting on oil the correct method of voting at the polls on election day he pointed out how easy it was to make an error in casting a vote and that it was surprising how many ballots were void every year lust just because the voter made it a slight mistake in marking tog ing the ballot he urged that greater care and caution should be shown by the voters when costing casting their votes I 1 many people he said do not know how to vote and should therefore become ac a j quain quainter ted with the correct method mr mcdonough has been giving vall
