U3.fi. the state 1 I road commission has awarded the contract for the paving of the Zion 1 National Park highway from Ncphl to the I'tah county line. The Reynolds-Ely Construction company of BpTlngVllle will do the work. Tin- m h to be borne by the federal government gov-ernment and Juab county, the federal government paying Tfi per cent and the county the remainder. The work Is to begin tn the imme-dlatS imme-dlatS future. The contract cills for slightly more than 15 T. miles of road-way road-way and eight contractors had bid on the work. It is to be a straight OS- I tnent-concreto roadwayf The commission will open bids Friday on the surfacing with cement 1 concrete of the road from Price to Cast legate, 10.45 miles it is understood under-stood that some of the contractors ire estimating the cost of maintaining tho necessary detours at 120,000? In view of this and the fact that mem- hers of tho Carbon countv commission commis-sion had said that the cost should not exceed $10,000, It may be that the Carbon county officials will be asked If ihey care to have supplementary sealed bids presented at the same time, as to the cost of the paving work, leaving the county to take care 1 of detours |
