All records for July travel to Zion National Nation-al Park were shattered the past month 'when a total of 7.054 persons entered the park, it was announced by E. T. Scoyen, Park Superintendent, here today. to-day. ! Of the total number entering the park, 1528 came by busses of the Utah Parks Company from the end of the rails at Cedar City; while 5.526 arrived in 1,671. auots. Rail travel increased 45 per cent over July 1927, and autos travel 14 per cent. Visitors represented 45 states. District of Columbia. Territories of Hawaii and Alaska, Philippine Islands, and eight foreign countries including Belgium, Canada. Denmark. Germany. Java. New Zealand. Russia, and South Africa . The total travel for the season to ' date is 19.323 and exceeds last years record by 5.723 or 43 per cent. From present indications the total number of visitors at the close of the present, travel on September 30th should reach 32.000, a new record, and an increase of 32 per cent, over the previous record of 24.303 established in 1927. |
