Of Lhiei in the Delta Frank Beckwith, Chronical, says: The first thing I did on coming to the town of Kanosh was to call at the home of Mrs. Nell Bird, where I was kindly allowed to take a photo graphic copy of the oil painting of Chief Kanosh which Mrs. Bird owns. Chief Kanosh was highly respect ed by the whites in fact, must have been so, to have won the honor of having the town named after him. Old State House to Be Opened July 24 The Fillmore city council has de cided, upon request of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, who have charge of the furnishing of the old state capltol in Fillmore, to give the Daughters financial assistance. It is planned to furnish at least two rooms immediately and to pro ceed to fill them with relics as soon as suitable ones are contributed. Plans already are under way for mally to open the building July 24. Governor Dern has signified his will ingness to attend, as have Mrs. Kate C. Snow, state central president of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and other state officials.
