terly conference in the history of the stal e was held in Cast ledale last saturday and sunday by count sunday morn ng there were in attendance land the afternoon the mornin session attendance 1 included sunday school ch idren bat the aftel noon attendance was wholly of adults beside the stal e presidency and a large representation members of the high council and b apostles rudger clawson and geo A smith and chas H hart of the first of seventies were in attend ance the addresses of the higher church author ties were particularly pointed and spirited the farat of then remarks ft as strongly tov ard the support and rallying around the stake academy good manners politeness temperance and a strict to the word of wisdom following the opening exercises sat arday morning president Pies ident R G miller briefly referred to a satisfactory con of church matters throughout the stake A G jelkes sr reported the high council as up in its work and the doing splendid work bishop hitchcock reported the clawson ward as prospering building a new meeting house etc president mary A of the rel ef soc ety stated that tha stake had been vis ted b the stake presidency and reported that its affairs were in excellent order and that the society had close to in its L D hospital fund to assist some worthy member through a hospital op elation apostle smith congratulated th people of the stake on the and 2 principal G F hickein of the stake i academy was called upon to arve are port of that institution he presented statistics showing how the attendance had grown until it reached two years ago at present the enrollment was about there were 16 of the academy students in the mission fields and one more would go in the spring i he thought that a good record for a and hard ng institute on the good work of which was bearing cont nihed on page 4 conference of emery stake cont aued from page 1 good fruit throughout the stake it was crippled for room and modern conveniences and he hoped that sup port would be given the proposition to build a new academy the 1 of the institution should not be allowed to move it was paying good dividends in its uplifting influence the growth of the stake mr kraan spoke earnestly against the counter in fluence of the saloons and said he hoped utah would sooim be numbered among the prohibition states of the unini apostle clawson follow ed and eulogized pi here where the parents could bring to them provisions light from the farm cheaper than by sending them far from home the sessions of the conference were held in peterson s hall no other build ng in
