sixth academic year anaf its condition at the close of that period the year has comprised two terms term 1 t the he first extending from august t to december 1891 a period of sixteen weeks and the second from january jannary eth 1892 to the present date a space of twenty weeks departments during the greater part of the year the intermediate department has been conducted in three divisions the first section in charge of instructor J J walton the second under instructor richard haag haagland Haa gand and the third under the supervision of instructor W H chamberlin la in this department were during daring the first term twenty seven classes with one hundred and six weekly recitations and five teachers during the second term there were twenty two classes holding ninety nine weekly sessions conducted by five teachers some of the students of this thle department have been advanced to the academic department their names will be read before you the academic department has continued under the supervision of instructor tor jos joe belgon in this department during the first term tera were eighteen classes with sev say enty five weekly recitations conducted by seven teachers in the second term eighteen clue classes ses one weekly recitations and seven teachers rome of the students of this department have been pursuing the regular courses leading to graduation of these nine have graduated in the business course one in the scientific and one in the literary in accordance with this result of their labors certificates of graduation have been issued to them this day attendances with 31 ses se sione lons con ducted by six teachers the theology classes of the academic and normal departments conducted separately during the first term were combined during the second pursuing the study of church chronology most of the students ot of this depart ment have been pursuing either the junior or senior course in theory 01 of teaching of these thirteen have graduated in the former course and eleven in the latter certificates have been issued to these recommending them respectively to the primary and the intermediate grade of the church school service most of those grad gradual ing in the senior course are last years year s junior graduates graduate although three have pursued with success both the junior and the senior course this year As was the case last year a number of students have been admitted to this department free of charge under the appropriation made by the church each one thus privileged having bously signed a statement of compliance with certain necessary conditions the work in the department to is being gradually extended to meet the re quire ments of advancing educational science and we confidently hope to establish ere long a course of normal training fully adequate in all respects to the needs of students preparing to take upon themselves the responsible duties of teachers among theyo the youth of our people THE CHURCH STANDING of the upon the completion of their class clan work As a result the priesthood meetings and general theological classes previously aly held after the regular work of the day have been convened in the morning of many age ments has maintained the excellent standard of the schools congregational singing As a result of our system of congregational sin gine this exercise has partaken partaker par taken of a more highly devotional character than would have been possible if participation the therein relin had been restricted to the few misses katie romney and gwendolin lewis both of the academic department
