Show t C DEl OF UIMIOl STEWART r three oclock this morning March 15th Bishop Isaac M Stewart of Draper fialt Lake County departed this life The cause of his demise was kiducy trouble He had reached a ripe age being In his BeXcnyflfth year I Ve regret that wo have not al hand n necoisory data fjr abIocraDliJ teal sketch of his career which on account ot his being up t the time of his death one of the oldest lug i members of the Church would leave been highly interesting He was also a pioneer of this Territory and his life a n wholavwas chequered with many vicissitudes cheue wIt associated with the history of the community of Latterday Saints He was a old and highly resisted citizen nose integrity t ms convictions con-victions of truth and his religious faith was unquestionable because unblemished He was a man of sound practical Judgment which rendered him an efficient public i officer his services during a long series of years as selectman In this county being especially valuable Bishop Stewart had presided over the DraperWanl sinceOctober IS55 and was consequently ranked aoions the oldest Ilishops of the Salt Lake slake One notable feature of his administration in that capacity i was his appreciation of the labors of the Lesser Priesthood especially those belonging t tho Priests otc For many years his a the only Ward where there was I full quorum 43 of Priest These he employed Iu taking charge of sacrament sacra-ment meetings visiting the S lnu and In other ways exercising the function > crtaining to their office thus at nlng young men an opportunity oppor-tunity become acquainted with the duties of tho Aaronlc order pr paratory t receiving the greater Ho also fostered secular education t the extent of his ability Draper per Ward is noted for the number of young men it ha furnished a efficient ef-ficient teachers in our public schools One his son JudgeJames Stewart occupied for some years the position of principal the Briu liam Young Collegeat Logan and another Wm M Stewart is the note Stwlrt present superintendent of public schools In this county Bishop Stewart ha departed full of years leaving a record behind him of which his posterity may well b proud while they can profitably profit-ably emulate his numerous virtues The funeral service will b held at Draper at 1 a m on Monday March 17th A 1 friends of the family r invited t b present |
