and the car made good time another triumph of the fertile brain of man had invaded the shores of the lake that had put forth seemingly insurmountable obstacles in the path of the southern pacific and the mountains again seemed to look down approvingly out of alie rain and the mist upon the snorting gasoline motor car designed to revolutionize interurban traffic some of the party had not made the trip across the lake and as they were whirled along the dirt fill beaw een little mountain and promontory they gazed with inquisitive eyes upon the different points of interest as pointed out by the railroad officials aboard the place where the steamship promontory was constructed and launched was shown them and a little further on the party came to the place where once had been the great quagmire of which such lurid tales were told in the salt lake papers and the victory of man over the quagmire was again retold with a chug a chug chug the little motor car whirled past the hillocks of earth that had been raised up when the grade sank snorting defiance to the forces mat had so long fought the venturesome engineers for supremacy passing promontory point where large steam shovels had moved millions of tons of rock and earth tor the dirt fills the party speeded along over the dirt fill between the point and the old camp 10 where the promontory docked for so many months leaving camp 10 the trip to sea by rail began those who have enjoyed the experience will never forget it imagine yourself it skimming along like a bird over a sea of blue and you have the sensation of riding on
