Mrs D F Walker Mrs William Jennings Mrs Ruth M Fox The second annual meeting of the Utah Federation of Womens clubs is a thing of the past yet the good it i accomplished will live for many a I day When our federation ship was I launched here in Salt Lake city two years ago we were sustained by strong convictions and indomitable I courage yet we but faintly realized I our opportunities privileges and possibilities I pos-sibilities S The local club movement was already al-ready successfully organized The general federation work was reaping a harvest of good It had unified the whole club movement But in order to bring us Into closer relationship with each other it was decided to organize a territorial federation fed-eration Our far west needed a stronger stimulus stim-ulus than the biennial that only the rare privileged delegate can attend Our general federation will give to our territorial federation breadth and our territorial federation to our general gen-eral federation tensity We are helpers In the common cause Our clubs are made up of women of all shades of thought and of feeling working harmoniously This is the secret of our charm our unity and our power The future of the federation federa-tion is assured We have passed the experimental stage The Womans club is a great educator edu-cator It inspires one with high ideas and purposes It helps us to help each other It trains us to think to be logical It is a sort of university extension a post graduate course What the local club is to the individual member the territorial federation is to the club The federation is fie local lo-cal club ten times multiplied What the local club does for thirtyfive women wo-men the federation does for three hundred and fifty It seems a vast assembly of women knowing and trusting each other each seeking the good of all Such union imparts to all a sense of largeness large-ness It elevates and stimulates each to do her best It teaches growth not crystallzation Advancement not retrogression It was for encouragement encourage-ment for achievement that our territorial terri-torial federation was organized ANTOINETTE B KINNEY State Chairman of Utah |
