Show A good woman gone to her reward mrs agnes ell eli ibeth feiks thompson departed parted ile t it life january 1910 of general debility after being bedfast about four weeks agnes elizabeth perks was born at liverpool lancashire england february 23 1840 bhe she embraced the gospel of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints when a girl in her nati nahne e town and was afterwards ter wards employed is housekeeper at the headquarters at liverpool it was nas here shi met her future husband hus bind elder AI S calkin catkin who was then on a ring mission sion and was married to him in ill 1856 she accompanied her tier busl and on his return to salt lake cry city in 1857 and 11 lived ed at that place until the fall of 1861 when they left for the dixie mission being among the first pioneers of st george some time after the death of her husband asa S calkin she was married to win wm 11 thompson in 1878 mrs thompson was a qualified medical and midwife her diploma as a doctor of medicine being issued by the board of medical examiners of the territory of utah june a 5 1893 and signed by the following physicians alien allen fowler C C dominck joa jos S richards F S bascom J M dart and M M graves she assisted nature in the birth of about 1100 children during the time she practiced her profession and at one time waa was the only doctor here deceased is survived by five children three sons song asa S calkin catkin of pine valley hyrum S thompson st george and wilford W thompson of la verkin two daughters mrs amy C hunter of american fork and mrs samuel T bleak of st george 28 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren and one brother josiah L perks of salt lake city mrs thompson was a devoted mother a faithful latter day saint and a woman respected and highly esteemed by all who knew her funeral services were held at the st george stake tabernacle tuesday afternoon conducted by bishop I 1 0 macfarlane the speakers being elders david H cannon david 11 morns morris ind and edward H snow who paid a high tribute to the life work of the de departed Darted sister all the chil dren except the daughter living at american fork attended the funeral interment was made in the city |
