Wfin&tt We FMM Against : Reading the Expose of un-Americ- an activities in Life for Ap-ril 13, we conclude that quite a part of America has gone in-sane and is preparing for national sucide. Good, pure, honest minds do not bring forth such fr its as are contained io ti e ' follow-ing utterances made by some of them : "To get nd of the Jews we will have to burn and kill them." "He (the president) should be lulled; let's do it." Such fruits are nothing but evil Personal Items Attorney Burton W. Musser says that he can get more exer-cise riding the busses then he can get from horse baek riding, and then he's in a better posi-tion to enjoy his easy chair at night To get the world's best mental exercise he should come to our office and help us figure the why of these war days. Pretty hard to awaken any one who is practising to die. And pretty hard to make hon-esty count for what it should in a small business, it appears. Friend Wm H. Halliday has presented us with a set of books on Soviet Russia. Being a truth seeker we shall read them. They are small Neighbor John F Monsen sent his remittance by mail so as to avoid the rush. And ev-en at. that there was some dif-ficulty. There was such a crowd that the mailman could hardly squeeze in with the let-ter. He sent so much folding money that it took half an hour to unfold it. For a few min-utes we were walking on air when lo, a hard boiled creditor with magnetized fingers and an itching palm, climbed through the transom. And believe us ,hey knjw how to crush them. Of course they label them as Communists. In Poland they have put clown 3,000,000 cooperators, partly by exile but mainly by enslavement and m"rder. News of CO-OPERATI-Chairman Percy S. Brown of the International committee for Cooperative Reconstruction, in hose name I speak to you, is preparing cooperative channels through which, after the cessation of hostilities, vital supplies will be shipped to and distributed in the devastated areas We shall make every ef-fort to effect post war reconstruction through cooperative in-stitutions with the applications of the best, methods and in the spirit of brotherhood of man. We are convinced that after the war, cooperation will be the bisis of the new dem-ocratic economy for the exhausted peoples."- To the 300,000 Poles who were memb rs of cooperatives he said; "We are aware of your pain and suffering and when this hurricane blows over, the help of our great country will flow out to you as quickly as possible ... We count on your patience and confidence and on your fortitude to survive this great struggle.' BRIEF DEFENSE FACTS " "Remember, citizens tl. at in defense of your "country the soldiers were so starved that they had to eat the army mules. AU building construction is halted. They are conserving wool and cotton and are freezing women's sil. houettes and forbidding the use of cuffs on pantalettes. The government and the governor are urging people to store coal. They better. do it while they can And they had better store food and clothing. The duration will be long Farm, tractors will have to use steel wheels. The poor cigarete manufacturers must do without lead foil No more golf clubs after May 31. 'T Atrocities Committed By Japan Neither pen nor tongue can tell a hundredth part of the awful and inhuman atrocities committed by the for-eign enemies of America. Were they all published together they would be amazing.those committed by Japan in Nanking, and similar things have been done in Hong Kong and other places. This has been published by nearly all of the English speaking press. One woman was attacked 37 times and her child killed. ' Every female from 10 to 70 who was found by the soldiers was attacked. 12,000 stores, homes and public houses were stripped of all belongings that could be taken away, such as clothing, food, bedding money, jeveiry and valuables 42,000 soldiers and civilian men, woman and children were deliberate-ly mnrdered, many tied iu groups and bayoneted for practise. $75,000 000 worth of property was destroyed. And here we have "American-s- gloating over Japanese vic-tories and saving that Japan represents "the flower of Mon-golian culture." While slavery has been outlawed in some countries there is yet about as much slavery in the world as ever. y was once placed in a class with murder but it has been kept alive in the form of interest, which is said to be the great est invention that Lucifer ever put into the mind of man. "The man who, in Lincoln's simple words, wrings his bread from the sweat of other men's faces is unjust. He may turn philanthropist and give back a nickel on the stolen quartur, or he may give back the entire quarter; he is still unjust. He may endow a universir.y or he may build a cathedral, or build a string of orphan asylums, he. is still unjust because he has used men as a means to forward his exploitation'' Learning the Three R's in China I i 4 ' J--r " -rf --y, ft ' - ... Living Truth "The men who estab ished this nation spent three hours every Sunday listening to prophets like Jonathan Edwards preach on goodness, and then went home and thought about it. They were interested in being good because they thought they would some day be judged. But their descendants, having de ied the existence of goodne.-- s and the coining of judgment, were not interested in being good, but in getting by. Their preoccupation with "getting something out of life" converted the worid into a continuous bank run, The bank is now closing HEADERS' OPINIONS (The opinions expressed in this column of the writers, nnd are necessnrilyconcurred in by the editor nnd mnnnKement of this pnper.) Soren Frandsen. Everybody Work lor Brotherhood One writer says that true religion consists in helping our fellow men. So in connection with that statement it may not be amiss to a-- 'What are we doing about real brotherhood?" It should ne the constant aim of every righteous man and woman to do his or her utmost toward the end that brolher-hoo- d might become a reality. It there is not brotherhood and sisterhood among the people then most of our prefessions are in vain. They dreamers laid the corner stones of society. A good friend, who has passed on to the other side, was found to have left the following tribute to his humble friend, the editor of this paper, and we wery modestly give space to it today. There was published a s atement made by a rich man in the East that the only way to overcome war and depression was to accept Christianity and follow Christ. He was praised and his statement heralded to the world as though he were the only one to make such a statement. Why? Because he is a man of wealth but whose business could never be harmonized with Christianity. We have here in the city a man who for years, in season and out of season, consistently and reasonably and most ably has talked and written that there was only one way out of all our difficulties, following the Master who was the greatest econo-mist of the ages, who had plumbed all the depths of life and who actually lived and proved what he taught. I am speaking of C. N. Lund whose writings on this subject would make a volume. He has shown us that if we would save our civilizat-ion we must begin to build our foundations on the teachings of the Man of Galilee. On this subject his writings have been very eloquent and inspiring. If ever a man was dilligent in setting forth these beliefs, which to him are knowledge on which men may stake every-thing, he has been dilligent. But C. N. Lund has fought from his humble place.fought under handicaps, without money, and therefore has not been given recognition. But he keeps on with his work and keeps his fires of truth and in-spiration kindled for the benefit of mankind. How much farther his influence might have reached had some one been a little kinder and more helpful with their wordly wealth. The late Amasa Aid rich. - The New Jerusalem.
