We believe it is the first local organized effort by business men and industrialists to whip the depression. None of them desire to try anything new, just the old methods, and, says one, Before anj'thing is attempted the money must be in sight. Another says, The state must not be ruiued by social experiments. It would be difficult to ruin it much more than the old system has ruined it. We say, Go ahead and do your best, but you will find that the old methods will fail and your wisdom will not prove to b.: o wise as you think. . The Power of Thought Can Change You The creative power of thought is one of the greatest discoveries of modern times. It is without a doubt the greatest power in the universe. If people would but learn of its potency and master it they would find it creative and that it may be used to change a personality entirely. With it you can substitute optimism for pessimism, health for sickness, abundance for poverty, joy for sorrow. If it were used by all men they could substitute universal peace for war. To change a condition it is only necessary to center the power of thought- sufficiently on the thing or condition desired. Think thoughts of love, happiness, prosperity, health and joy, and you will drive out the opposites. A philosopher has said, The first law of health, success and character is to think right. Ford Gives ths Evidence Many Progressives have said that the financiers of big business brought on the present recession. This has been loudly disputed But here is a word from Henry Ford, who should be authority. Financial interests seeking to control prices, production and pay, have been responsible for the recession in business? Financiers are trying to break the country down so as to control all industry. If this Bmall group is successful Ford knows. This prices will go up and wages will go down. is how big business solves the industrial problems breaking the country down, laying off 6,000,000 men to join the army of the unemployed, forcing down the relief grants deliberately making a condition that may cause the streets of the large cities to run red with blood within a few months. Increased Pensions Must Come There appears to be nothing in sight that will bring speedy and immediate prosperity under the present system but the passage of the Welfare Act now pending in congress. It provides for the pensioning of all people over 60 years of age in an amount that will guarantee them a decent standard of living This bill is not alone to help the aged but by providing for them it will retire them from their employment and thus create millions of places for the idle youth of the country. When the aged have a guaranteed income they will become buyers and consumers on a scale unprecented and thus prosperity will be speeded up and maintained. Let the bill be passed before this congress adjourns. If this bill fails we trust they will greatly increase the monthly assistance to the aged and make it a real ing the power of their wages or income. As a group they can NOTICES. Sat. Night, 8 p. m. Since 1910 Utah farm mortgages and debt obligations have increased from $7,500,000 to $45,000 000. And during the same period the farm income decreased from 315,000,000 to $10,000,000.
