The Christians are looking for the return of their Messiah to establish peace and a perfect economic order. The Mohamedans are looking to their Allah for peace and deliverance. The pagans and the heathen are looking to their strange Gods. Only the Russians and the Jews believe they are self sufficient, the latter believing, according to an English Rabbi, that they are the Body of the Messiah destined t set up a rulership of the world. Humans undoubtedly need help. What shall men do in this trembling hour? TheBarbarian8' are battering at the gate of the civilized world more desperately than were the Huns and the Vandals of the fifth century. The present wars, declared and undeclared, are far more savage than those of the Goths and the Huns. Perfidy prevails everywhere and nxtions are doing things that would have shamed Attila. There is everywhere a complete breakdown of international morality. There is decadence, degeneracy, unnatural vice and unheard of corruption in all large cities. On all sides there is a turning away from God and religion, and the moral standards have been thrown to the winds. How shall humans be able to stand? Whither shall they turn? If ever an age needed to listen to the voice of a true prophet it is now. If ever poor and apparently lost humanity need divine guidance it is this moment. There is One who calls to the world as he called to Jerusalem, but the rulers will not. Can it be that a fate similar to the fate that overwhelmed Jerusalem must overtake the present civilization? Beware, oh world, lest that fate be uponou. Latent Power In Human Heart "There is no lack of mind in the world of today, but there is a woeful want of heart. There is power enough in the human heart to turn the whole world's evil into good, to disband every army, to turn eviry battleship into a ship of commerce, to close every prison, court and almshouse, to make every Gordon sinner a saint and every beggar a nobleman. Among the Aged During the past week we had the privilege of attending the meetings of the two groups of aged people, one known as the Old Age Pension Association and the other as the Builders of Old Age Securitr. As we looked into the faces of the men and women who have grown gray and feeble in the struggle of life there were many thoughts came to mind, the principal one of which was, What if all these could be rehabilitated, set up d in reasonable comfort financially and have their minds until they were able to think the thoughts that would make tdeir spirits young again. Wonders might be performed. Thank God the country has a government that has done as well by them as it has. The aim of the organizations is to do more for the aged, to get increased appropriations from state and nation so that they may enjoy what Americans have comee to know as a decent standard of living. A good beginning has been made. No backward step will be tolerated. Every step hereafter must be a forward movement. rejuv-inate- Smi es Are Needed The world needs your smiles, your good, wholesome, big hearted smiles. There are enough tears and sighs and sorrows, but never enough smiles. Go before a mirror and practise until you can smile perfectly. Smile in the home, in the office, in the street, on the job, in the church, in the schoolroom, on the playground. Smile always and everywhere and life will take on a new glory. There are times when a sincere, friendly smile is worth more than gold times when it sinks into the soul like gleams of light from priceless jewels. Smile, brother and sister, and putsoms thrills of joy into the lives of those about you.
