VISIT OF 'GOVERNOR AXTELL. barel-workin- Reception at the Depot. il I; Last Friday afternoon, tfco City Council, having learned that Govern or Aitcll intended to come to 0"dcn em a visit to Mr. Guff Moore, of this city, an old friend with whom he had keen intimately acquainted in erly California times, appointed a committee, consisting of Mayos L. J. Her rick, Alderman W. Thomson and Councilor C. W, Pearose. to wait up on tho Governor and welcome him to our city. The news being circulated, a large number of the citiiena of Ogden H y at the depot on Saturday evening on the arrival of the Utah Central train, hoping that his Excel- f ?! ' l r i S lency would favor them with a speech. He was met by Mr. Gff Moore, who introduced the committee to him. They escorted the Governor to the Beardsley House, when, in response to the earnest request of the people, he consented to address them. A number of the leading men of the city were introduced to the Governor, and appeared with him on the balcony of House; the Ogden Crass Band playing several natisnal sirs. Mr. C.
