Show ! The dirty dogs of the Salt Lake Tribune are again barking about Col. Fife, of this city. When the vile slander about the Colonel's fam iiy, during Via absence, appeared in their nasty, libellous sheet, they threw the responsibility on an "Og- den correspondent." Now they r new the attack in person. They state, editorially, that "among his harem of wives he counts a mother and two daughters and again two sisters." It is perhaps needless for us to say that the statement is an abousinable UHtruth, seeing that when those hounds yelp every sen; sillo person who hears the sound knows it to be a false note. In no other part of the Union would such scoundrels or such a paper bo tolerated. The Tribune is a disgrace to its proprietors, and the nasty brutes who write for it reflect dishonor upon the company who publish it. They must be anxious for a libel suit, or such personal at tacks as the above would be repreS' sed. They should bo ashamed of their paper; their scribes have no sense of bhame in their composition Charles W. Pennwc, Editor anil Rminass Muntinr. , GC1XL. UTAH. Saturday Ereninj, Jan. 16, 1S75. The full comaiittae will now try their hunch and see if they cau do better. According to the report presented to Congress yesterday, the returning board, which threw out many conservative returns, acted in a manifestly arbitrary, UDjust and illegal man- ner, their, object being evidently to play into the hands of the republicans. There is no evidence that colored voters were intimidated at the last election, but it is clear that U. S. Marshals used federal troops to intimidate white voters, and that colored citizens wha sustained the eouservative ticket, were in several instances maltreated, and one was shot for making a speech in favor of the conservatives. The popular feeling is one of deep indignation against the Kellogg government, which is regarded by the masses as a usurpation, and illegal, corrupt and abusive. Nothing but federal bayonets upholds it in the State. The White Lcagn e numbers many republicans in its ranks, and there is no evidence that it has been used fur the intimidation of colored voters.
