changes have been made blue vitrel Is taken from the tree free list and made dutiable at 3 2 cents per pound rude borax Is increased to 3 cents per pound borate of lime to 2 cents and refined borax to 3 cents per pound copperas Is taken from the free list and made dutiable it at the rate of 3 10 cent per pound the mckinley rate Is re on magnesia and flaxseed oil the duties on all lead products are increased to correspond with an increased rate on lead and lead ore acetate of lead Is made 3 cents per pound 2 cents nitrate of lead ix s cents lead and white paint containing lead 3 cents per too sulphate of soda Is fr taken from the free ree list and restored to the mckinley rate ate sulphur ore Is taken from the tree free list lift and made dutiable at 40 cents per ton rude tartar Is made dutiable at 3 cents per pound no schedule of the bill has given the committee so much trouble as that relating to earths earthenware and glass ware the committee Is still at work on this but the probabilities are that earthenware generally will be restored to the mckinley ad valorem valoree rates the mckinley rates on glassware have been restored though with some important changes the duty on tin plates Is 1 placed at ii I 1 cents per pound under the mckinley law it wag 2 2 lo 10 cents and in the present it Is I 1 1115 11 i 15 cents on steel ignots etc the classification of the present law Is the same and the duties are a compromise about half way between those of the and the present law on iron or steel wire known as crinoline wire etc the duty Is increased from 40 to 45 per cent with
