Show The Forum Page6 Chos Unique Humor Livens Salt Lake Brandon Christensen Staff Writer Margaret Cho, comedian extraordinaire, visited Salt Lake this past weekend. She performed Jan. 10 and 1 1 at Wise Guys Comedy Cafe. Cho, most recognizable from her two successful touring films I'm the One that I Want and Notorious C.H.O , is an extremely talented young woman with some crazy and honest insights on life. Tve never been to Salt Lake before, in fact, the only time I ever played in Utah was at this comedy club down in Provo, Cho said at the beginning of her act. She then talked about how the show was protested by locals, who actually ended up making it a huge success, and how she enjoys Utah, saying that it has a unique feel about it. Cho joked about everything from child birth to eating disorders. She is also an avid supporter of gays and lesbians, and much of her comedy deals with sexuality and identity, and as fans of her work can tell you, she does impressions of her mother that leave the audience Cho in stitches. has gone through many trials in life, which she openly pokes fun at in her work. As an Asian woman she talked about not having role models to look up to in her childhood, and how even today there is a lack of Asian entertainers. She dealt with an eating disorder for six years of her life, which led to serious problems, and she has openly talked about her sexual identity and her experimentation with both sexes. Cho discusses these heavy issues with a sense of seriousness and sincerity, all while cracking the audience up with raunchy, honest humor, Chos refreshing, fun outlook on life was well accepted here in Salt Lake, and a number of her fans afterwards commented on how they would love for her to come back and see us real soon. os self-estee- m Construction Continued from pg. 1 majors as well as more defined majors within those fields, such as theatre management or the recording arts. Contributing Writer Westminster was led by 18 The Westminster womens bas- ketball team came from nine points down against Montana Tech on Saturday night to earn a tough road victory in Frontier Conference play, improving their season mark to 10-- 8 overall and in Frontier play. The Lady Griffins, who played an extremely tough schedule in which lost the night they finished 9-15-before to the 1 University of Montana-Wester- n Bulldogs who hold no.7 NAIA national rank1- -1 non-confere- 7; ing. In the first game, Westminster played a great first half to hold a 29-2- 8 halftime lead of the Lady Bulldogs. However, the Lady Griffins were held to 35 shooting in the second half compared to 58 for The Bulldogs scored 51 points in the second half. Scores ended with Westminster on the short end of UM-Wester- n. 79-6- 4. After a slow start, that could be attributed to a let down from the night before, the Lady Griffins found themselves trailing by nine point at halftime, 31-2- 2. The Griffins remained patient in the second half as they went to a zone defense to try and confuse the Lady Orediggers. It worked. Westminster began to fight their way back into a slow paced game. But, it wasnt until Jessica Richter hit a three to tie the game with 2:35 remaining that Westminster seemed to be in control. Rachel Robbins had her best game of the year off of the bench with 14 points and eight rebounds. Jessica Richter added nine points, including two huge three point shots and seven points in the final three minutes of the game. Sophomore Lindsey Kelly also played well off the bench with three points, three rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Our bench was deeper and fresher down the stretch.. We play all twelve players which is our strength, and it paid off tonight. explains Park. The Griffins now face Rocky Mountain College and Carroll College at home this weekend in Payne Gymnasium. Both teams are looking to earn respect as Westminster has been receiving votes all year in the national polls. Park emphasizes the importance of protecting . home court in conference play, We need to take advantage of our home, court and crowd. We dont lose many games at home with the extra liveliness provided by our fans; hopefully, we will have a great turnout on Thursday.
