Husbandman. Prospecting. Mr. E. Y. Eltonhcad, now in Helena, is about to commence prospecting a number of mineral locations on Clarks Fork in the interest of Messrs. Jay Cooke, Thompson, Butler and other Eastern capitalists, who have the privilege of purchasing the several properties, on certain conditions, from the present owners. The mines are not accessible to wagons, and all supplies and material have to be packed in by mule train, the trail being by way of the Mammoth Hot Springs. Herald. Six Dollars to the Pax! A communication received from the Yogo mines last evening (Thursday), states thut $0 to the pan has been taken from one of the claims. The report lacks confirmation, but is generally believed in town. Benton Jiecnrd. Eureka Lode Bonded. The Eureka lode, discovered last spring, by Messrs. Will OKeefe, the comedian, and C. B. Towers, which is located at the head of Ten Mile, has recently been bonded to O. Albrecht and I. Wolff, of Helena, who represent a mining company of ample means. They .will expend 2,000 in the work of development before the bond expires. The lead is from JO to 50 feet wide and OKeefe and his partner have three claims located upon it, each 1 ,500 feet long. The ore is free millieg and contains both gold and silver. If it increases very slightly in value, as depth is obtained, a fortune is assured for all parties concerned. Besides this lead Mr. OKeefe is solid on the Bankers Daughter, and it seems not improbable that by next spring he will have shekels enough on hand to build an opera house of his own. Helena Mack Morris They have made important developments in the 100 foot level of the Mack Morris mfne. The cross-cu- t from the winze shaft cut the vein on the 100 foot level on Friday, and it shows four feet thick of fine onl From the crosscut the ore leads east and west, and establishes the fact that the Mack Morris is a Bonanza mine. Silver Nugget We have been informed by good authorise, that the north shaft of the Silver Nugget has cut the vein GO feet below the first level, and that the same rich ore was found. This being seme dsstance below the water revel, is conclusive evidence that the vein is permanent, and that the ore continues. Blue Bird We cave authority for stating that M. A. Baldwin has procured a lease of the old Blue Bird mine. A force of woskmen under Jack McGowan are already at work. This mine has produced excellent ore, but has been so mismanaged that it grew into disfavor. McGowan will pull it up again, no doubt. On reaching Challis I learned of some new and important developments in the mineral line. A number of gold and silver ledges were found about two weeks miles southago in the Passimari country, about twenty-fiv- e easterly from Challis. They are on a tributary of the Passimari, six to eight miles from the main stream. The ores somewhat resemble those of Bay Horse and Poverty Flat, are copThe veins are large, with per stained, but carry more gold. heavy croppings, the ore assaying from 100 to 120 per ton on top. The mines are about sixty miles from Salmon City, and in a section very favorable to mining, as it is easy of access at all times of the year. Large quantities of ore can be extracted at little expense, as there is much of it in sight. About a dozen locations have been made, and a good many prospectors have gone in. The prospectors making the discoveries are, I learn, Wallen, Patterson, Compton and Iley-word. On the Lemhi side of the mountain a number of locations have also been made. Besides the above mentioned discoveries still another promising belt has been struck, a few weeks ago, by the prospectHerald. ors sent out by Pease & Taylor, of Bannack. XRW MEXICO.
