Show WESTERN MINING GAZETTEER. NEVADA. Tuscarora District. We copy these items from the Times Review: level, east drift, has been extended Argenta. The 200-fo15 feet; total 140 feet. The upraise from the same level has been extended 9 feet; total 40 feet. Only a portion of the week has work been done here. The stopes west of the shaft, l, above the are producing the usual quantity of chloride ore and of a higher grade than last week. The quality and quantity of ore from the stopes from the winze is greater and better, as we raise up on the ledge. Average pulp assay for the last five days in August, $35.91. The mill was shut down for repairs on the 1st, and will start up again -- UTAH. Dlntali District. ot The following is taken from the Record of the 4th: Putnam. A shaft has been started near the bed of the creek to catch the vein of the Putnam. It is just below the discovery shaft. W e regard the Putnam as one of the finest prospects in the camp. PImpire. In the Empire the large Worthington pump is being overhauled. Meanwhile the new pump is throwing up a large stream of water. Drifting for the vein is suspended until the pumps are both running again. Jones Bonanza. On Tuesday the new hoisting works at the Jones Bonanza were started up, working to the entire satisfaction of the engineers. Tanking was the order of the day, and good headway was made. There has been so much water in the shaft that it will take until some time next week to get it all out. Utah. Next week the Utah will be shipping ore. A raise will be made from both the 50 and the 150-folevels, and a large body of ore now in sight will be stoped out. A new fan, for supplying fresh air to the mine, has been put in. It will be run by the engine. Mr. Brooks has located a site for a shaft to the west of the tunnel. Part of the machinery for the hoisting works is on the ground, and work will be coni menccd immediately. Little Bell. The Little Bell, a new prospect about 700 feet southwest of the Glenco, in Red Canyon, is now being worked. The vein is five feet in width, with no foot wall as yet, with ore streaks all through it, the ore resembling very much that of the Glenco when the vein in that mine was first discovered. It is the opinion of many who have examined the Little Bell, that it will be equal in value and extent to the ot Glenco.Frisco District. - I i : f j ; Pine Grove District. j j j ; j j i ji i ! at this point is not known. Cross-cut- s and drifts will probably be run on the 100-folevel. Milleil The Miller is down eight feet, showing fine ore and a verv wide ledge. Carbonate. The Carbonate shows up some verv fine look- mg carbonate and galena ore. North Star. Some new locations have been made, among which is the North Star, an assay from the croppings of which gave 58 ounces of silver to the ton. ot i ; ; I i j j ) Pruiss District. Pruiss District is situated about seven miles north of Frisco. The south drift, in the intermediate below the 150-folevel, has advanced 7 feet; total from No. 1 winze, 34 feet. The east drift, 400-folevq, has been extended 12 feet; vein continues strong, with bunches of rich t, has been extended 13 feet; no ore. The east drift, The winze has attained a depth of change since last report. 1G feet; have reached the ledge and are sinking with it; vein is constantly improving; pumps are working well; the water in the main shaft has been lowered GO feet. The ore vein in the stopes is producing well, but not as good as the stopes did while the vein in the winze is better. near the Independence. During the past week the north drift in level has been extended 21 feet; now in a disthe 500-fotance of 412 feet. No particular change in the appearance of the ledge at this point. The east cross-cu- t on the has been extended 15 feet; the formation has improved; loolfS encouraging. The winze on this level has been sunk 8 feet; total depth of winze, 24 feet. The ore vein has improved during the past week. There is G inches of rich ore in the bottom, and a strong vein of ledge matter. Belle Isle. The upraise on the east lateral vein, 145 feet north of joint Navajo east cross-cu- t, level, has been carried up 7 feet; the vein averages about 8 inches wido, of 150-folevel, has good ore. The joint Navajo, east cross-cu- t, been advanced 17 feet; total, 33 feet. The south stope from No. 2 raise, 250-folevel, is producing some fair ore. Navajo. 70-fo- ot ot ot ot 500-foo- 500-leve- l; ot 500-lev- el 75-fo- ot 70-fo- ot Carrie Lucille. The shaft on the Carrie Lucille is down 30 feet, and the vein still continues to hold its own. Its width ; to-da- y. ot The Times sums up the mining news as follows: Rainbow. A force of men are at work on the Rainbow mine, adjoining the Horn Silver. Blue Wing. The tunnel is in 557 feet and will have to be run 25 feet further before cutting the vein. The lead on top is 200 feet wide, carrying from 0 to 12 per cent, copper and about 20 ounces silver. The tunnel is calculated to tap the ledge at a depth of 450 feet from the crest of the hill. j 200-leve- The Spy is down 30 feet, showing G inches of high grade galena ore. Minnie. On the Minnie, the north extension of the Spy, a shaft has been senk 30 feet and will soon reach the ledge, which carries a fair seam of galena. Antelope. Work will be resumed on the Antelope tunnel, which is now in 220 feet. Summit. The tunnel on the Summit cut the ledge at a dis tancc of 5 feet. An incline was sunk some distance on tlu vein from the face of the tunnel, showing high grade carbonate ore all the way down. ot ot Columbus District. Northern Belle. The drift on the fourth level has been advanced 12 feet during the week, the formation showing no particular change. The development on the third level still continues to look well, giving good average assays. There is no change worthy of note in either the first or second levels The levels above the adit look as promising as at any time in the past few months, and are keeping up their usual good yield. Shipments for the weekending August 23d amount to $30,238.70, and for the August account to the 25th, True Fissure. $113,-829.9- 5. IMoclie District. The following items are taken from the Record of the 28th: Removing. The men at the Bullionville furnace are at work removing the concentration apparatus from the twentv-stam- p mill over to the American Flag mill. The work of furnaces is being grading for the calcine and water-jackpushed ahead. Mr. Montgomery informs us that the works for concentrating tailings will be ready to commence operation in about a month. It will be two months vet before the furnaces will be ready to start up. The capacity of the water-jackwill be able to smelt thirty tons of ore daily, or forty tons of concentrations et et |
