Sessions will start again on Nov. 1, 1957, according to C. R. Henderson, Vernal, chairman of the commission. He said that in the interim, contending parties would file writ ten briefs much of which, it is hoped, will answer questions posed by commission members and staff. The state is principally concerned with establishment of the most adequate and efficient drainage of oil from the field and with the amount of oil which might be left (uncovered) in the field or by various paterns of spacing HenderMr. methods proposed, son said. He said there were conflicting answers as to what point in the history of development of the field that these recoveries could be made. The agency is hearing a petition of Texas Co. and others for one well to each 80 acres at the field. Shell Oil Co. and others seek spacing on a 40 acre basis. The oil companies were also asked to submit evidence on what effect a secondary recovery pro gram would have on spacing plans at the field. He said Shell testified that a minimum of 40 acres was necessary for recovery of the maximum amount of oil. The Texas Co. gave no information on this score at this session, he said, as it was not conclusively known at this time what the effect would be. Mr. Henderson said he under rftood that more oil could be recovered by secondary methods than primary methods. This means that an estimate of some million barrels in place at 182 the field on a primary basis would be increased to nearly 400 million barrels when secondary recovery is considered. 10 Cents fit Carter Wildcat Boosts Utah Resource Hopes . o 11. 1957 TivuiiiLLlVillC Carter Oil Co. this week reported flow of 54 barrels of oil in seven hours at its Tohonadle Pool wildcat in San Juan County, Utah. Its Navajo Tract 23, No. 1, is an apparent confirmation of the pool established in drilling by Shell Oil Co. last summer. Shell also drilled an offset to its discovery wildcat but did not announce results of testing. Carters tract 23 is about one mile southwest of the original pool opener. The company continues to carry forward completion work with hope of increasing well potential considerably. The Shell discovery flowed 40 gravity crude through choke at the rate of 1,480 barrels daily. - After treatment of perforations feet with 500 between 5,734-2mud of acid, Carter gallons swabbed the well into a rate in seven hours. This is equivalent to about 180 barrels daily. The firm is now running tubing in its completion effort. This discovery area is the farthest west of any commercial oil production in the Paradox Basin. ' The resolution was signed by Thomas G. Judd, Salt Lake Chair- ers. He called attention to the continuing need for imports of certain minerals and metals and indicated that any United States tariff action that might be taken to relieve serious injury to U.S. producers would have the primary imports and domestic production. On the state level Republican party leaders passed a resolution concerning the matter. The text of the resolution appears elsewhere in this issue. Texota Oil Co.
