Show I He Western Mineral Survey, Salt Continued from Page 1 ty, which was the largest source of gold in Idaho during 1952, although in operation only half the year, was idle during all of 1953. This was the major factor bringing about the decline in the states gold production. Mining operations at the property, which commine, 2,200-to- n prises an open-pi- t flotation plant, and an antimony smelter, were suspended by the Bradley Mining Co. in June of 1952 because of poor marketing conditions for antimony. , Silver The i output of the metal from the silver mines in the Coeur dAlene region of Shoshone County was somewhat less than the previous years production. This group of mines, consisting of the Sunshine mine and adjoining properties operated by the Sunshine Mining Co. and the Silver Summit mine of Polaris Mining Co., constitute the largest single source of silver in the United States. A mechanical failure at the Sunshine mine caused a curtailment of ore production during February, and a reduction of ore output also took place in September, when some changes were made in underground pperations to improve the mill feed. To facilitate openeing of the Polaris and Chester vein systems at depth, a station was cut for a new No. 8 offset shaft to be sunk to the 4,000 foot level. A crosscut at the 3,400 level reached the Yankee Girl vein in Metropolitan Mines Co. ground. Exploratory diamond drilling was done in the footwall of the Silver Syndicate fault vein. The Sunshine Mining Co. also installed new flotation 'equipment in its Big Creek mill. Ore from the Bunker Hill, Page, 'Galena, and other mines in the zinc and lead producing districts of Shoshone County was an important source of silver in 1953; a 'substantial quantity also came from the Triumph zinc-lea- d property in Blaine County. Copper A decrease in the output of lt-copper ore by the Calera Mining Co. from the Blackbird mine in Lemhi County, the major producer of copper in Idaho during 1952, led to the decline in the amount of copper produced by Idahos mines. Production .was at the mine, curtailed in mid-195- 3 as a result of refining problems encountered at the new cobalt of Howe Sound Co., parent . plant 'company of the Calera firm, at 'Garfield, Utah. At the end of 1953, operations at the Blackbird mine were confined to underground 38 stopes were nearing readiness for cut and slime-fi- ll mining. Silver ore produced by the Sunshine abd Polaris mining companies was the leading source, of the States copper during the year. Lead and Zinc As in former years, mines in the Couer dAlene region, Shoshone Cointy, supplied more than 90 percent of the lead and zinc output Seek Uranium CODY, WYO. The organization of a corporation by Cody residents for the purpose of exploring for . - Shaft-deepeni- uranium ores was announced recently ty S. L. Willoughby, president. The company, known as The Wyoming Uranium company, will include the developing and mining of strategic materials in its opera tions. Low level airborne surveys have been conducted by the group during the past several months using nudiometers and scintillation counters to detect radioactive minerals in the area. - It is planned to organize ground survey equipment for use in surface surveying of promising areas. ng 3113 1142 dBCMMde ' 3221 with 3222 Creditors vouchersto ttSundeVsigned at 151 South 2945 Main Btreet, Salt Lake City, Utah, on or 1185 before the 1st day of June, A.D., 1954. 1184 TRACY --COLLINS TRUST COMPANY, Ex- 1897 ecutor of the estate of WILLIE E. 1345 ; LOSES, deceased. 2698 Date of publication, January 22, 1358 A.D., 1954. A major development project also was in progress at the Galena mine. A new charge preparation plant was placed in full operation dur- Page 1 Notices pushing it to completion, Smith stated. Work now outlined is expected to take until well into the spring. ' , Eighteen men are now employed at the Clayton operation seven on the mill creek, seven on mine production and four on development. The new REA power supply for the plants, contracted for several years ago, was cut in last Saturday, Smith said, adding that the improvement marked an important step in the progress of not oilv the Clayton mine but also the entire Custer county area. .
