Show all the year route logged and pictured A big effort is being made to how show up the advantages if the all route to california to torn ests tuesday a party in two autos reach ed here part from los angele angeles part fam las vegas the pirty from los angeles came thru in a packard twin six auto driven by lewis ii krent a driver who is famous on the chaa coa it the big par ear had a i large sign N ita graph painted on the back of it denoting that L k dewein one of the lead ing cimera camera men ot of that company was with it taking both moving and 4 7 still pictures of the scenic points along the route the hearst syndi cate being le ie for this part of the expense the party wai un der direction of chas H bigelow of los angeles a recognized auth arthr r ity on highway matters and a man who has had vast experience along this line mr lir bigelow has for a long time been constantly boosting and working for this route W b wood representing the los angel a ei times the I 1 os angeles elamin er and other california papers ac companied the party and is sending back daily stories of the trip des cribbing its scenic and other point for publication in beveral several of the coast newspapers the route is be ing logged the distance to st george from los angeles be ing shown as to miles ac cording to broadb taken the party from las vegas consist ed of E W griffiths president of the las vegas chamber of corn com merce bishop ed I 1 cox oi of bun kerville senator levi S syphus of st thomas and A W dark clark treas aurer of dark clark co nev these men have never let up in their ef forts in behalf of the route ever since it was fust proposed griffiths and cox especially being indefatigable in their efforts A party consisting of hon D H morris hon thos judd and war ren cox left in an all auto expecting to meet the party somewhere near santa clara but the visitors made such good time that they were al most at the western boundary line of the city when met A delegation of citizen visited the party at the Mc hou house se tuesday evening the delegation insisted of mayor james mcarth ur geo F whitehead bad fad dr F J al woodbury hon D H morris jos S snow warren cox B jar vis jr and geo xeo webb the vis igors expressed theme elve as gleat 15 1 pleased and surprised with the road which they found much bet ter than they expected the then were ft ere especially emphatic in praising its scenic properties mr air bigelow say ing it was the best scenic road in the country with the exception of that part of the road betge between en littlefield anz ariz and st george it was declared good and with a little work on the road between here and littlefield Littlefi pid that part could be made is good as the rest of it the party understood that the roid row to the arizona state line had I 1 een declared a state road and ex a wish th that at it would be put in good condition the coming coining fall when asked for an etim estimate est imite ite of the number of cara cars that would tran travel el this route when roads were in good condition all thru mr bigelow replied at least an dually which would bp be greatly in creased as the route became better know n the party espre sed themselves is delighted with the appearance ippe arance of st george and the hospitality of the people the f he lo 10 angeles party leit left N wed ed morning for the deap canyon where they intend a genea 0 wang picture pj Q cupo t they sill tf then en go on to salt lake city thru cedar city beaver fillmore and central utah and after spending some u time there will return to st george vii rich field and kanab taking in the grand canyon from the latter place on return to st george they intend spending pending 1 several bivs here making side trips and viewing the country hereabouts hon D H morris the president of the st george commercial club who has been very active in behalf of this route has written letters to commercial clubs and prominent citizens at points thru which the party will pass acquainting them with the object ot of the trip the las vegas party left for re turn wednesday afternoon they stated before returning g that they had started out to get the route used at once and intended pushing matters until all was in good shape they will work in connection with northern points and try to influence icem to have the rad n ad in such shape that real travel will commence about july I 1 they figure that by then at least ten to 15 autom will pass thru daily if i little work is done on the roads between non now 8 aa tae aber |
