As the name, Pleasant Grove, indicates one of the principle resources of our town is a pleasant place to live. The health of the people, the extent and variety of the fruits, vegetables, farm produce and the ample supply of good water give abundant evidence of this. Fruit raising, and trucking T I ft G I I ' i; The people of Utah County should feel very fortunate that a power plant such as the or.o located at the mouth of Provo Canyon Iras been built in our county. We appreciate the fact that a great deal of benefit has been realized in Pleasant Grove from the employment of a number of workmen during construction. During the immediate past some large industrial propositions have been discouraged because of lack of sufficient power to insure their success. With the completion of this new power unit we have in our county all of the necessary facilities to incourage important industrial activity. Our nearness to an abundant coal supply, our railroad connections which insure adequate transportation, our pure water supply for washing or cooling purposes, together with the increased power made ready by this new modern plant should make Utah County a location for manufacturing, processing and canning unequaled in our state, Lyean Johnson, Mayor ' - 1 ployment than the local community can supply. General farming and sme dairying are also engaged in. If to these are added the poultry and turkey raising, then these become an idustry of considerable importance. The people of Pleasant Grove have always prided themselves on their fine school system, and the interest the people take and show in intellectual pursuits. Our town has a pleasant and adequate city park, play grounds, track and ball park three tennis courts, open air and indoor dancing floors, rodeo grounds and ball park with seats for spectators. A pleasant and delightful place to live. Pleasant Grove reposes in the cooling shades, and refreshing breezes of Timpanogos, and the people who live here must ever be inspired to their highest and finest selves as they look up to the towering heights of Our Grand Old Mountain. iHrsp? PULLEY , & SONS When it was announced by the press that the Utah Power &' Light Company contemplated the erection of a steam power plant, many of our citizens expressed the hope that the structure might be located in north Utah County. Our city partially visioned the possibilities of the location of other industries and enterprises in .our midst through the increased facilities of electrical power. American Fork City has been a heavy consumer of electricity. Probably there is no state that uses more home electrical appliances per family than does our city. Such enterprises as have been erected by the Utah Power & Light Company should guarantee fine service for a grow-in- g population of our city and central Utah. We congratulate the Company' on its characteristic enterprising spirit and businesslike consummation of the big project. The erection of the plant, together with other construction incident to it, has furnished work for both skilled and unskilled labor from our city. We deeply appreciate this. It is hoped further, however, that some of these men might be considered in permanent positions within the plant when operation begins. L. B. Adamson, Mayor. American Fork TUESDAY.
