He received his bachelors degree in 1951 and his masters degree in 1954, both from the University of Utah. Prior to his moving from Kearns the past week, he was a member of the Kearns Stake High Council, a position from which he has not been released at the present time, lie has also held the position as ward bishop, and councelor in the bishoprick. Mr. Jackmans main hobby and also sport is fishing. Mr. Daryl John McCarty, new prin- cipal of the new David Gourley Elementary School of Kearns. Mr. Daryl John McCarty, 29, resides at 8719 W. 3150 South in Magna with his wife and two sons. Mrs. McCarty is the former Helen Brown from Magna, Utah. Mr. McCarty attended schools of the Granite School District, graduating from Cyprus High in Magna in 1948. He received his bachelors degree from the University of Utah in 1952. He is at present completing his masters degree at the University. He is Stake YMMIA Superinten-dant- , and a Sunday School teacher. He has also completed a mission. He was also coach of the swimming team at Cyprus High for one year. Mr. McCarty has a deep interest in politics. He was Democratic chairman for the 21st legislative district, and at one time was can didate for the house of representatives. He has served as president of the Granite Educational Association, and this year holds the position of second vice president of the association. Mr. McCarty comes to the area as a new principal in Kearns this year. Along with this, his school is a new one also. Complete supplies for the school were not available by the first day of school and as yet the faculty still lacks one teacher, presently being filled by a Joseph Kenneth Cummins, new jrincipal of the South Kearns Elementary School. Mr. Joseph Kenneth Cummins, 34, of 1871 So. Woodside Drive, Salt Lake City, is the new principal at South Kearns this year. His wife is the former Margureit De Mahis. Mr. Cummins worked on his Doctor of Education at UCLA, and re- ceived his masters degree at the University of Utah. He has taught school for 5 years in the Granite Mr. G.
