Sweet Shop, just west of Durrfeys On hand to welcome the public for the children. Cleaners, will be held this coming to the new business establishment, Owner of the establishment is Mr. Jay E. Bowen, 255 Vine St., Murray, Utah. One of Mr. Bowens future plans is to move to Kearns. He was born in Idaho, and moved J-fin- nA to Utah with his parents while still a youth. He has attended the schools in Cedar City and in Salt Offers for Their Salt Lake area. ueet - hc2 - OPENING SPECIAL He has also attended the LDS Business College and speech classes at the University of Utah. His wife is the former Donna Stokes of Brigham City. They have three lovely children. Ja Anna is 8, Johnny, 6, and Jimmy 5. Although Mr. Bowen is accomplished at many trades, at the present time, the family never has to worry about not having enough ice cream to eat. Mr. Bowen has three business establishments at the present time. The Dairy Freez, in Murray, and the Frozen Food Lockers at Sandy, and the new business in Kearns. ' . pacific Page 3 Mrs. Bowen manages the Dairy Freez in Murray, while her husband runs the other business. At the Sandy establishment, they have a frozen food plan, as well as the locker service and are also wholesale dealers for ice cream products. He has had the Dairy Freez in Murray for the past three years and before that the A1 Johnson Bee Sweet Ice Cream at 27th South and 5th East in South Salt Lake City. In the Kearns Sweet Shop, their business will be ice cream specialties, mainly, with soft drinks on the side. Sandwiches may be added to the line later. Mr. Bowen has also raised mink in the past, and was a former employe. of the Deseret News as a printer. He has served a Southern States mission for the LDS church, and has been an active Scout and Explorer leader. He also has an orchestra that accepts engagements for wedding receptions, and etc. We say welcome to Kearns, and good luck to your new business. BENNION NEWS Proud Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. T. John Labrum of Bennion. Their daughter-in-lagave birth recently to a 512 lb. baby girl. Congratulations to Erlene and Kenneth, too. w The Explorers and leaders returned home this week after their three days on the Snake River in Wyoming. They enjoyed the canoeing and fishing holes along the way. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Poynor on the birth of their new baby girl. She was born July 30th. was a The Ward success. The huge Primary parade started the day off, followed by tractor driving races and childrens foot races. The Primary had a Pizza booth which couldnt keep pizza enough for all who wanted it. There were rides for the children and refreshments for everyone. In the evening, a lovely program was presented to a large crowd. Ben-A-Fa- ir The MIA Roadshow from nion went over with a huge amount of success. Many young people and adults worked very hard on it. Connie Lunt was in charge of it. The Junior softball team has won two of their games in the Division 10 finals. We hope they can continue to keep up their ball playing and win the Championship honors. The Senior team also won their first game. Many youngsters from the surrounding areas participated in the County Recreation Dance festival. This was held on Friday, July 31st. North Jordan Stake House was the setting for the festivals Mood Memories theme. Connie Cooper fo Hunter has been the teacher for the summer. She visited Whittier, Plymouth, and Monroe schools each week. The summer recreation program has been a great success. A Sunday School party was held at Saratoga Swimming resort Saturday at 6 p.m. The party included teenagers from Shirley Angles class and George Poultsons. The group enjoyed swimming, games and refreshments. Milt and Lucille Eyre returned k home this week after a vacation in Wyoming. They, saw jeautiful scenery and visited relatives. two-wee- to Mr. and , Congratulations Walt Swain of Bennion. A Daby boy was born to them week. We wish the family congratulations. Mrs. new last our Clubs in the Bennion Many area are getting ready for the coming Salt Lake County Fair to begin Aug. 19th in Murray. Many last minute ewers are putting the last minute stitches on them. We wish everyone entering a lot of luck. 4-- H . The Y.M.M.I.A. sustained some new officers in Sacrament meeting Sunday night. Clark Morrill was sustained as activity Counselor and Austin Burton as Secretary. Beth Parker was sustained as choister in the junior Sunday School. Some teachers were relletst and some sustained.
