Occupation, title or major is optional. John Ditzler Dear Editor, Please come back safe and sound, clean and whole. Far too many come back maimed and polluted body and soul. Some return as amputees or in caskets; but even worse, some who left in good character return with serious character flaws. Much military speech and language is vulgar, obscene, blasphemous and coarse-please don't let it rub off on you. Some return with lifetime afflictions of loathsome diseases; to name a few: Legionnaire's Disease, various social diseases. Gulf War Syndrome, mysterious others. Many are dormant, latent and not detectable until later in life. Many exposed to Agent Orange (dioxin) in Vietnam have already died from numerous related causes. The government always says, "it won't hurt you" or "the effects are negligible." The President has recently slashed medical care for Veterans. Especially beware of radiation poisoning by association with "dirty" bombs and munitions; the results may be cumulative, undetectable, long-lasting, and deadly. One tactic of the military is to force servicemen to take speed, uppers, downers, tranquilizers and many such drugs which may be detrimental and terribly addictive. If you were good when you left, I estimate you have only a fifty percent chance of being good when you return. Many veterans return lacking in basic social skills, no usable work skills, unemployable, divorced, homeless, etc. Some, after killings and murders become bloodthirsty, willing to rape torture and degrade. Do not think that you are immune. Pride goeth before a fall. War is all about killing. Those guilty include: inventors of fiendish weapons, manufacturers, Pentagon desk commanders, the commander in chief, generals, admirals, officers, leaders, all the way down including you. You should not obey wicked orders. Information has come from many sources, but the conclusions expressed herein are my own-Might you ever wish to become a father? Perils of military service might diminish your chances. Your life is precious-do not squander it. Save our children.
