An example of this case would be the college football player who is unable to participate in winter sports because he is not a basketball player There are many sports which could well supplement the too small rooster It seems that all the snow around here is good only for use in snow battles or for impressing girls by drowning them in it Maybe it could be used for practicing for sld meets? Why doesn’t the college have a wrestling program? If they cant wrestle with other colleges they could enter the AAU tournament every year Talking about AAU reminds us of the possibility boxing affords Why doesn’t the promised golf and tennis programs materialize? It seems that the responsibility for the lack of these tosports lies over a large area so why don’t the right people get our broaden we can so of students the gether and recruit the support sports scope of-e- rs ol ay BRING OUT THE CHEERS When the Carbon College Golden Eagles romp onto the playing floor they are greeted by this quintet of cheer extractors who warrant a few cheers themselves Comprising the cheer leader section are Loretta Abeyta Peggy Cottrell Pat Hixson Vcrla Magann and Gayleen Salzetti left to right Wagner Photo — — — - tT Clubs — — "- and Social Events Valentine's day has been circled Robert L Mathie claimed Yvonne Leonard a graduate of Carbon as his bride on January 26 The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Leonard Mr and Mrs Samuel A Mathis of Huntington are the groom's parents The wedding took place at the home of Mr and Mrs Alex Johnson of Huntington grandparents of the groom A reception on February 2 at the Third Ward LDS Chapel honored the newly-wed- s as the wedding date for Judy Jowkes and Robert Dal Ponte popular Carbon College couple The news of the engagement and forthcoming marriage is being announced by the parents of the bride-eleMr and Mrs Movcll Jewkes Mr and Mrs Joseph Dal Ponte of Hiawatha are the parents of the groom-to-b-e Miss Jewkes is a member of Pi Gamma Chi sorority and Lambda Delta Sigma and is employed in the school office Her fiance is also a member of the religious fraternAnnouncement of the engagement ity and is prominent in athletic and forthcoming marriage of Maractivities in tiio schodl ilyn Sue Miller and Nile Colton is being made by her parents Mr Miss Marilyn Christensen daugh- and Mrs Bernard A Miller this ter of Mr and Mrs Gordon T week Christensen became the bride of Mr and Mrs Enos Conger are Jay L Larson son of Mr and the parents of the benedict-elec- t Mrs Leonard Ijirsen of Ferron in A spring wedding is planned a ceremony performed in the Man-- ti IJ)S Temple Saturday January Of romantic interest to Carbon 26 students was the marriage of GloThe couple was honored at a re- ria Ferderber daughter of Mr and ception held in Fourth Wan Chap- Mrs Mike Ferderber to James el the same evening The bride Richard son Mr of and Mrs Guy was attired in a ballerina length Walter of Rock Guy WySprings gown of nylon net and lace over The on took oming wedding place taffeta A lace cap edged with 29 in the Chapel of the January veil pearls caught her finger-ti- p of nylon net For her bouquet she Elmendorph Air Force Base in Alaska chose tiny pink rosebuds encirGloria is a graduate of Carbon cled with white carnations School and attended Carbon High The bride selected Mrs Marvin before being employed by College Mutz as her matron of honor the First National Bank at Trice while Connie Worthcn and Marilyn Miller stood as bridesmaids The flower girls were Linda Christensen and Diane Larson young sisters of the bride and groom Jack Shoe Store Rhodes performed the duties of best man and Ronald Larson and Price Utah Marvin Mutz served as ushers ct Salem?
