Ogden is a city of 40,000 people, busily engaged in manufacturing and commerce. From the citys industrial plants products are sent to countries throughout the world. Railroad terminals of Ogden handle a large percentage of all shipments between the east and west. Two railroads maintain shops and terminals here. Another railroad maintains a freight department. The U. S. government maintains a railroad mail terminal and two electrical railroads connect the city with communities to the north and south. Railroad Center Ogdens industrial history In reality commenced on May 10, 1869, when the golden spike at Promontory Point was driven, joining the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads, linking the west coast with the east. The strategic position of Ogden quickly made it a railroad center and gradually, during the succeeding years, industrial plants were located here through the enterprise of the people and the advantages of the city. Thus Ogden became a prominent 'manufacturing and industrial center of the west.
