Show CACHE CO. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE. A meeting of the school trustees and teachers of Cache Co. was held in the Fourth Ward school house, Logan, at 1:30 p. m., Sept. 2d. The meeting was called to order by County Supt. John T. Caine, and an organization of the meeting was effected by electing John T. Caine, Jr., chairman, and Samuel Oldham, secretary. The chairman stated that the object of the meeting was to reorganize the Cache Co. Educational Institute. The constitution and by-laws of the former institute were then read. The election for officers of the Institute was by ballot, and resulted as follows, Wm. H. Apperley, Prest., J. Z. Stewart, vice-Prest.; I. C. Thoreson, Sec'y, and Treas.; Annie E. Carlisle, Librarian. It was resolved on motion that the names of the members not present at this meeting, with the exception of those on foreign missions, be stricken from the roll. On motion, the chairman appointed a committee of three-J. Z. Stewart, Wm. H. Apperley, and Joseph A. Smith, to amend and revise the constitution and by-laws of the Institute. The following programme for next meeting was reported and accepted. Essay on the Theory of Education, by J. Z. Stewart. Lecture on School Government, by Jas. P. Low. Lesson in Vocal Music, by Wm. H. Apperley. Essay on English Grammar, transitive and intransitive verbs, Miss Fannie Gibbs. Miscellaneous. It was resolved on motion that the meetings of the Institute be held on the second Saturday in each month, at 11 a.m. Moved and seconded that the Secretary of this meeting be authorized to send copies of the minutes of this meeting to the Utah Journal and Ogden Herald. Carried. On motion, meeting adjourned to meet at the 4th Ward school house, Logan, on Saturday, October 14th, at 11 a.m. John T. Caine, Jr., Chairman. Samuel Oldham, Sec'y. |
