It was an afternoon with Schubert and was delightfully spent. The attendance of members with their friends was large and enthusiastic. Mrs. Margie D. The event was undoubtedly among the pleasantest that the Cleofan has yet given CXlomans Club. The lecture before the Womans Club on the Industrial Phases of Education by Prof. Marshall was well received. He presented many new ideas entirely different from the generally accepted ideas of education, which appealed to the good sense and practical side of people. It contained much food for thought and may lead to broader thoughts upon the subject of education. Next Tuesday, at 3.30 p. m., will be childrens day, when a pleasing program will be rendered, to which all children are invited. The Womans Republican Club will hold their regular social meeting Monday atternoon, April 4th, at the home of Mrs. Rudy, 249 W. 4th south, at two oclock. Everyone is cordially invited to be present. S. L. Monroe, Press Cor. Womans Club. The Education Section of the Ladies Literary Club met at the univers- ity, Saturday, March 26th, to hear Prof. Whiting lecture on the E ir. An ear was dissected by the Professor, and the occasion was enjoyed by all. Prof. Whiting is always instructive and never tiresome. At the meeting of the Education Section Wednesday, March 30, the theory of Color was discussed, according to Young and Hering. Mrs. Parsons exhibited some Kindergarten color work; followed by a discussion on Hearing. . Hereafter this section will meet on alternate Fridays, at 3 p. m., in the Club room, beginning with Friday, April 8th. The program for that day will be as follows: The development of the senses. The possible modification of the brain. Attention, Nutrition and Fatigue in relation to the Nervous System. The Ladies Literary Club met Friday afternoon, April 1st, in regular session, the president in the chair. The programme was in charge of the Current Events and Current Literature section, and consisted of three n papers. The first, on the Cuban situation, by Mrs. Watson, was a clear and concise summary of the present state of things, and the causes that led up to them. It was a well prepared paper filled with a spirit of broad patriotism, that Spanish-America- |
