A meeting was held last week and the desirability of forming an association was discussed. It was pointed out that capons can be profitably raised on a small acreage, and that young people especially, who have small farms or tracts of land, must be able to make a living from their places or go into other work than farming or leave the county. Poultry offers a means of making a good livelihood for these people. Neola has a thriving dairy association at present, and produces a large number of turkeys. A poultry association would add greatly to her resources, and increase the Incomes of the farmers there. It was suggested at the meeting that other towns be interested in the association, in order that enough capons be produced to market in carload lots. Those present at the meeting decided that Barred Plymouth Rocks This was only would be raised. breed to for cathe best be thought for pons general purposes. Neola is again leading out in a movement that will undoubtedly be productive of most gratifying results. Her dairy association is a pronounced success, and there is every reason to believe that a poultry association can be made as successful1 if not even more so. , The Basin is an ideal poultry section, and Cd produce capons more cheaply than 'most any other section in the state. President Corass called the meeting to order with James Copota and secretary Henry Cesspooch present. Supt. F. A. Gross gave an address on better farming and clean-u- p days. Short talks were given by Corass and James Copota along the same lines. Charles Frans plans on seeding ten acres of wheat and ten acres of oats and the rest just as near that goal as they could reach financially and with their own labor. Mamie Johnson acted as interpreter with ease and intelligence. Wheat and Oats as Clover Nurse Crops Tests Show There Is No Marked Difference. Combination CAN OPENER 1 NOTICE The next meeting of the Duchesne County Farm Bureau will be held at Midview Saturday, April 10. , , Difference in Yield of Red Clover and Alfalfa Under some soil conditions there is, not much difference in yield of red clover and alfalfa. If the surface and subsoil are both sour, and the dark-- i colored soil Is not very deep where the clovers must get their food from, the decomposing humus, the red clover) may make as much or more growth than alfalfa, because the root system) of red clover is a little better adapted to getting food from decaying humus' than is alfalfa. But when the sub-- , soil contains the proper mineral food' supply or when it has been applied to the soil, the alfalfa will make much, more growth under comparable con-- , dltions than red clover.
