He estimated that should Brigham build a pool and lease it to the school, the annual cost would be "at least $25, 000." Board members seemed not exactly 'warm' to the mayor's idea and member Wayne Love-lasaid, "The cost you're quo ting here is higher than any we've seen in the state." School board president conStokes, obviously cerned about the ability of North Box Elder communities to finance a new pool, commented that it would be best for the board to build both pools. He of the urged for a project by the board's financial consultants, Burrows & Smith of Salt Lake City. Should the school board find it possible to bond for the new pool (or pools) it would require voter approval and member Varsel Chlarson asked Brigham mayor: "Do you feel in your heart that people would vote for it?" Mr. Zundel replied by saying, "I feel that Brigham City would go for it and that represents more than half the population." 1 VOLUME 50 NUMBER sis 31 DeLonne Anderson, executive of the Smith's Management Corporation, was elected chairman of the Republican Party for Box Elder County, Mondayeve-nin- g. At least that's the impression he left with members of the Board of Education at the regular meeting last Wednesday in Brigham City. Kaiie Cutler Wins Big Jackpot A family project for the Sid Cutler family paid off hansomely this week when daughter Katie won The Leader's Mystery Personality jackpot.. .And she won big, too, coming up with the right name and all six clues for $95.00. Excited was the word for Katie (and her family) when notified Monday evening that they'd struck it rich. For the first time in the weekly contest there was more than one M.P. guessed. Lots of folks who entered thought sure they'd pegged city engineer Duain Madsen as the M.P. but one key clue was missed, so not all who put entries in the boxes around town marked the M.P. as Lowell Johnson. And what clue was missed? Well, the name Renee which is Lowell's wife's name. We tried a new way last week and wrote this name in the lace of the wedding gown In 'The Leader's' ad which advertises wedding invitation printing at this news paper. (Now isn't that a clever way of putting in a little plug for our printing department?) So this week the prize money goes back to $8.50 for just the name or $34.50 for all the clues so get busy and see what you can come up with. The contest will end in a few short weeks but there's still time for YOU to win. The M.P. boxes this week may be found at the following places: Bowcutt's, Jim & Dave's Husky, Northern Furniture, River Drug, Norlunds, and Classic Shop. nr |
